I will take my mother to one. Since it is only me and her now. She doesn't like to cook a big dinner like that just for the two of us. But I do miss those home cook Thanksgiving dinners. And I'm not a very good cook either.

I use to take her to as place she likes called Country Buffet. But last year we went they didn't have stuffing! What is a Thanksgiving dinner without stuffing? So this year I'm taking her to a place I like.

My family often went out for Thanksgiving after the folks who used to cook it got older. No one else had the house large enough at first, and once the older generation began to die off (I really don't mean it that way, but how else do I say it), it was just easier.
An alternative is a place that provides the full dinner cooked for you. I've done that a few times when it was just too hectic to cook. Turkey, stuffing, veg, cranberry sauce, the whole thing. It was pretty good, too....

Of course! A lot of people do. Leftovers are great though, so order extra helpings to take home. Most grocery stores will sell the entire Thanksgiving dinner ready made if you want to eat at home but don't want to cook. Restaurants, country clubs, hotels - all have great spreads on Thanksgiving, you are set for a good meal wherever you go!

My husband and I always go out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner because it is just the 2 of us-both families are several hundred miles away. Gotta tell you, it makes us feel very thankful because we are relaxed and alone and it's quiet (we go for the places where there are less likely to be many children). Then I make a special dinner (of his choice) on Friday.

No, we always have a home cooked meal for Thanksgiving with my family and my boyfriend's parents. That's nice that you take your mom to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner.

A Thanksgiving buffet is nice. A lot to choose from. Figure out what it is that you're missing the most and ask Mom to fix that one night with another meal. My kids miss the desserts the most and the macaroni and cheese...

Yes!! Go to a buffet if you have one close by. Otherwise, many restaurants will be open and serve the traditional dinner. That way you don't have to deal with two weeks of left-overs. Check to see if you need reservations.

well, it's up to you. there are some really nice restaurants that provide a home made turkey dinner for the occassion. but i would suggest since she doesn't want to cook and you don't cook either, why not order the dinner and have it at your moms or at your place, just set up the table and make it intimate.

Everyone comes to my house for Thanksgiving. But where I live thee is a place called the Turkey Roost And they serve Turkey, stuffing, mashed potato gravey, vegetable, cranberrysauce and a biscuit all for less than $7.00 a plate and since that is all they serve you are served with hot food in less than 7 minutes.

My husbands family usually goes to the Cracker Barrel because no one wants to invite anyone over to the house. It is the craziest thing. my older Sister-in-laws started that long before I came and acted like I was crazy for suggesting we get together at the house.
