What goes through your mind when people you've never seen before or dealt with on here add you as a contact?

It depends on a few things. First, I check to see if it is a brand new account. If it is and they allow email, I email and ask questions. It they refuse to reply, I will block them.
If it's an account that has been here a while, I look to see if we answered any of the same questions. If not, I email and question again.

What goes through my mind is " why me and who are they? "
I do not like to block without a reason. I have a couple blocked that were new accounts and had no questions or answers on their profiles. It's been over a month and those accounts still haven't done any questions or answers.

You put a lot on the plate to answer. I think what you are feeling is something normal for a person your age. Perhaps you did take a blow to the ego because the relationship you had, but in time you will get over it. I would suggest to NOT wrap your esteem into what the 25 year old fellow did; though this is easier said than done. You indicated you get more depressed after a drink. Alcohol is a depressant and WILL make you more depressed. So, I suggest staying away from it until you get to feeling better. You can feel alone or isolated when around people. This is a self esteem issue. You need to build yourself up. Reward yourself for the good things that you do and the person that you are. Try not to be hard on yourself for your perceived short comings. We all have our crosses to carry and at times we can be pretty hard on ourselves. So, I suggest easing up, take time to smell the roses and learn to enjoy your "aloneness". Once you are secure in yourself, then everything else becomes trivial. You'll find the depression will have gone away. In the mean time, I suggest getting some counseling to help get through this difficult period. Just about everyone you will deal with in your walk through life felt the same or will feel the same as you. You're no different from the next person. The key is the way you handle the difficulties. I think they have read some of your answers before the answers go to be rated by the asker or the voters, and they figure if they are your contact, they can find out the reason for your success, maybe. In some cases, I pick them because they seem like nice people.

Well, off hand, I take it as a compliment. Obviously, they found either one of my questions, or an answer interesting and thought they would like to become one of my contacts. Peace!

I get sketchy! I don't want random people to just add me! I would like for people to ask but if they don't I can't stop them! I'll leave it untill I start getting reported and then I will block them.

I meet them with a little suspicion . I keep my eye on them to see what they are doing and possibly want and if they are there legitimately they stay and if not then they go.

I just ignore it, either the person is weird and just pulled me from random, or I think it might be a default thing that yahoo answers does??

That happened to me some guy added me and then never has any contact with me or I have contact with him...akward...
