I'm going through this with my daughter right now. You just need to keep up the treatments. It can take a couple weeks for her to clear up. Hang in there.

You were recommended the proper mode of treatment for her symptoms. A virus usually keeps residence in its host up to 2 weeks, so you may have to conduct this routine for up to 2 weeks after the virus has run its course. Since she is still small, keep her lying tummy down on your chest when she sleeps. This may be uncomfortable for you and you may not get any sleep at all, but this is better than allowing her to sleep on her back that exascerbates the nasal drip and irritation of her mucousal cavities. Saline drops help unclog stubborn thick mucus. It is best to keep her sleeping quarters humidified so that this further loosens up and dislodges old mucus. It is a good sign if she is coughing up the mucus rather than swallowing it. The only downside is that she may develop viral-related ashthma. You may want to request a Nebulizer with appropriate ashmatic liquid meds if this condition develops.

The FDA has pulled all pseudoephedrine-containing infant medications from the market, and for good reason - these OTC meds are dangerous for any child under 2 years of age. The current prescriptions your daughter is on is the most effective and safe route of treatment at this time.

Good luck.

My 4 month old daughter is going through the same thing. Keep up the treatments that you listed, but I would also add a crib wedge in her bed or let her sleep in a bouncy seat. Laying flat on the matress lets all that congestion just build up and it is hard for the baby to get rid of it. If their head is elevated, it helps them to breathe easier.

Good luck!

Keep using the nasal drops wait a minute or two and aspirate her nose. You may have to keep repeating this during the day and night. But don't use cold medicine I read somewhere babies were dying from being overdosed on it. Just follow your doctors orders. It does take awhile and I know you hate to see her suffer, but your doing the right thing.

Are you using saline solution nasal drops? They help break up the congestion so her nasal cavity won't be clogged.
It sounds like you are doing everything possible for her.

Keep up those treatments...they're right.

Give her lots of cuddles...it'll run its course.
