I am getting a tightening of my bump and extremely painful sharp pains around my pubic area. It feels like a stabbing pain. Do you think its braxton hicks or possible a water infection? The pain is every 1/2 hour. I am 36 wks tmrw

I get the sharp pains (not at regular 1/2 hour intervals though), from my research I have understood that it's symptoms of the baby engaging.

I also get the tightening, apparently it's the uterus (the feeling commonly known as braxton hicks) and it happens every 20 mins during pregnancy, whether you feel it or not. For me, it seems to get tighter these days at 34 weeks and 4 days, than it ever did previously!

I'd do as your midwife says. The professionals know best.

Those are contractions. Drink some water and walk around, change positions...if the pains go away, it's just your body getting ready for labour. If it continues in a pattern or gets closer together/more painful, call your doctor.

Braxton Hicks are usually in the vaginal region and can be pretty painful at times; however, they are irregular so they shouldn't come a certain number of minutes apart. Contact your doctor if you are worried.

sounds like braxton hicks and the ligaments will be changing as the baby descends into the birth position. see your doc if you are worried about anything. or your midwife.

Braxton Hicks. Obviously, if they get really close together for a long period of time you might be going into labor.

If they get closer or stronger call L&D or your OB. They MAY be contractions. I have been having contractions pretty steadily for 2 days now and with almost every one, the ligaments in my lower belly get pulled terribly.
