Most doctors and midwifes like to see you for the first time around 9-12 weeks. Each provider varies. When you call to make your appointment and give them the date of your last menstrual period, they will calculate where you are and then schedule your first visit based on whatever their usual timetable is.
9-10 weeks is pretty average because the heartbeat can often be picked up at this time, but some providers will let you come in even before that to do an intial check-up, health history and blood work.
You can go ahead and start taking prenatal vitamins even before your first visit.
I'm sorry for your loss and I'm so excited you are expecting again!

I was 18 weeks at my first check up... I thought I was only 15. These things happen (I had insurance problems as well). Go ahead and start taking your prenatal vitamins now, it is never too late to benefit from those. You will get a normal pelvic exam, probably a sonogram (or they will send you for one), and have your blood pressure, urine (for protein and sugar), and weight checked, etc. By the way.. I am 6 months along and have only gained 6lbs and my baby is growing at the exact rate it should be. Don't worry. A lot of your weight will be put on later in your pregnancy.

Call your doctor and tell them you had a positive pregnancy test result. My doctors always scheduled me within the next several days to come in and get blood drawn (for confirmation and for a lab work-up). Other doctors will schedule your first appointment sometime around 6-8 weeks along. Some sooner, some later. It depends on the doctor. Your best bet is to go ahead and inform your doctor of the positive pregnancy test and let him/her make that decision. Since you have had a miscarriage before, he/she may want to keep a close eye on you as a high risk patient.
I am so sorry for you previous loss. Good luck with this pregnancy!

Anytime you can between 8-12 weeks is recommeded. Of course the sooner the better. You can start taking over the counter prenatal vitamins while you wait. Congrats on your pregnancy.

I am 8 weeks and have been reading everywhere that the first appointment should be between 6-7 weeks. I had mine at almost 7.

If you had a miscarriage the first time you should be seeing your OB ASAP. You also should be taking your prenatal vitamins and making sure you gets lots of folate. Orange juice and strawberries are loaded with them. Folate prevents the chance of your baby being born with spina bifida. Good Luck.

you should go to the doctor as soon as possible that way you can start your prenatal vitamins and the doctor can keep an eye on you because you may be a high risk case for some reason

Typically you go in once you find out you're pregnant, and have it confirmed via bloodtest. You're then referred to an OB, and the first appt would be booked for the 12/13 week mark.

I would call the dr. now, and set up an appt. sometimes it takes them a few weeks to fit you in.
Make sure that you let them know about your miscarriage before at 7 weeks. That may make a difference on when they want to see you.

Schedule it now. I went when I was 5 weeks and usually they may schedule your initial appt a couple of weeks after you call (depends on how busy the office you go to is)! Congrats and good luck!!
