There is this guy, and he is pretty homophobic. He is Muslim. However, I find him to very peculiar. He claims to Muslim, and yet he is the most vein person I have ever met in my life. He waxes his eyebrows, and is extremely flasy and brags about his money and cars. Now, doesn't modesty play a role in the Muslim faith? He also has loads of pictures of pornographic material as in, naked women on his myspace. It is very ironic and funny to me.
Now, he's single. He has never been with a woman. He is 31. He is still a virgin. He openly admits this. However, he always, always stares at me. It is quite distracting. But, he's pretty homophobic as he stated he was due to his religion.
is this guy just a closet-case and using his religion as an excuse? I think so. i don't feel he knows much about Islam as he is the total opposite of everything a Muslim stands for. What do you think?

It's so funny. He has loads of naked women on his myspace, yet he has never had sex. And, he doesn't date or if he does it's only for a few weeks. and he's 31. something is off here.

I have seen nothing but hypocrisy from the fundamentalist people in all religions. Islam is extremely homophobic, and in that regard he is toe-in line with the strictest of Muslims. Now look at the the Saudi Royal Family or any of the other extremely wealthy muslims in Dubai, they drink, drive diamond encrusted cars and cars made of silver. I don't trust religious types for this reason, the hypocrisy. Muslims are no different than Christians in that regard. It doesn't mean he is a closet-case at all, as the anti-gay homophobic thing is the one thing that all muslims, jews and christians seem to agree on.

Interestingly in the Qur'an - the holy book for Muslims, there is nothing about homosexuals. There is a long history of ignoring or even tolerating for homosexuality in certain Muslim societies however during colonization strict Victorian standards were imposed. Inform him that there is nothing against gays in the Qur'an and that bigotry is anti-Muslim.
As for him looking at you, gay men have a tendency to over-interpret acts by other men as sexual invitations. I think you have a crush on this fellow and are looking for signs that he likes you too.
With the porn on his myspace he may be trying to overcompensate for his alleged heterosexuality and convince people that he is straight. That said, you should not try to bring him out of the closet. It is not really any of your business even though you like him.

Yes Islam preaches modesty and any sort of porn is prohibited, Islam also encourages heterosexual marriage and being gay is unthinkable for a muslim.
So we're probably talking about a very hypocrite bisexual muslim that is afraid to accept himself for what he is, he's probably afraid to show his true colors for his religion.

Yeah he may be gay. If he is over the top with pics of naked woman, but doens't date them or sleep with them then he may be trying to hide the fact that he is gay.

He's an American Muslim. The way you describe him is in keeping with what happens when tradition is melded with our culture. He buys into all the trappings of our culture to maintain his facade. But it does not mean that he is a closet case. More than likely, he doesn't know who he is.

It could be that he is using religion as a facade. But he may be not. It could be that heflaunts about himself and his ways too much, at the most. I could make an estimated guess that he could be straight but has awkward tendencies. :)
