Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn will soon be added to that list).
You would LOVE them! It is a vampire romance with some enthralling twists!

yes, A Series of Unfortunate Events was far more captivating to me. And yes I have read the Harry Potter books. Also, the Lord of the Rings books are quite captivating. I'm sure there are many books just as, if not more interesting than the Harry Potter series.

Look at these:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.
My favorite is "The Hobbit", but I also give "The Sword in the Stone" very high marks. Neither is a series (The Hobbit is sort of a prequel to The Lord of the Rings, and "Sword" is the beginning of "The Once and Future King" and the only-very-good "The Book of Merlin"). In other words, reading these won't break your piggy bank when (not if) you fall in love with them.
I hope this helps.

Hm, I can think of a few that are at least as interesting if not more. Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" series, J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings," Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar novels. All are definitely worth your time if you like fantasy.

Well, if you like fantasy....
Dragon Weather
The Dragon Society
Dragon Venom -all by Lawrence Watt-Evans
They're incredible and I highly recommend them. If you're not into fantasy you can try the Barnes and Noble website and look up the best sellers. Hope this helps. Good luck.
