I was never in the military, but I remember something like that from the TV show "The Lone Ranger". He was a masked Texas Ranger in the Old West. His sidekick was Tonto, and his horse was called Silver. I think he actually said, "Hi-yo Silver, away!" to get the horse to gallop. It was a good show.

Other than Tonto's buddy, the only other "High yo Silver Awaay" was a part of "Elvira " um poppa mow mow" done by the Statler Bros. --- so, what chu talkin bout Willis ?

Was that a David Essex song? If so I remember waving my arms in the air to that song. High Ho Silver Lining I think.
Partner and I went through David? "Walliams" NO! "Bowey" NO! "Gower" NO! "Beckham" God NO! finally came up with Essex. Please tell us we are right else I won't sleep tonight.
