I was never in the military, but I remember something like that from the TV show "The Lone Ranger". He was a masked Texas Ranger in the Old West. His sidekick was Tonto, and his horse was called Silver. I think he actually said, "Hi-yo Silver, away!" to get the horse to gallop. It was a good show.

Am off to my home office to check the numbers on my birth certificate! Don't remember any of these other than the Lone Ranger (could have been a rerun?)!

Yep, says I'm 66 - WHAT WAS I DOING?

I thought it was from this song:

We were in the military
We did our jobs in style
We all sounded
just like Gomer Pyle!
Now give me a hi ho Sliver.
or was that silver?
