There IS a difference.
The ignorance on this board is truly what scares me.

Apparently if you don't spew hatred and ignorance, you're on a bleeding heart soap box~ Fine by me! (As long as I continue not to be evil.)

I live my life in fear of neither. The vast majority of Muslims only want to live their lives in peace. If one allows terrorism to instills fear then the terrorist have already succeeded.

Big difference and no I am not scared of either? I have no reason to be scared. We have a strong military and homeland security that keeps me safe and just because someone is a beliver in Islam doesn't automatically make him a terrorist any more than if someone is a Christian he is automatically a Fascist or anything else for that matter. You are right the ignorance is scary. That ignorance is perpetrated, condoned and fed by those who are jingoists, neocons and rightwingnuts who use scare tactics to get what they want. It is similar to what was done in Germany in the 1930s.

Niether of them scare me. I am more concerned about the Bush administration starting yet another war in the Middle East. The Bush administration are the real terrorists.
And there is NO SUCH THING as an " islamofascist ".
That was a term cooked up by neocons to stir up race hatreds.

I'm not really scared of either.

I look back over the history of terror acts in America and understand that

1) I have about a better chance of being killed in a common crime or accident, and even that is slim and

2) if a "terrorist" does kill me it will probably be an American group or random wacko with a rifle and a grudge.

I am scared of fundamentalists everywhere and since the fundamentalists most likely to cause me harm in America (either with repressive laws or violence) are Chirstians I am more afraid of them than Muslims.

Neither scares me and yes, I am well aware of the difference.

However, I'm not some limp-wristed neocon looking for the government to save me from terrorists.

People need to remember that the President takes an oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the USA, but that doesn't necessarily imply defending and protecting the people. And definitely doesn't mean providing safety and security 100% of the time.

Muslims don't frighten me at all. I know some Muslims personally. Real Islam is based on love and tolerance just as Real Christianity is, but you couldn't tell it from some Muslims and some Christians either.

Terrorism frightens me a little, but in the US you have more chance of being hit by lighting TWICE than being killed by a terrorist. You are more likely to die from an infection caused by an ingrown toenail.

What really frightens me more than either of these is Christians who say Islam is evil, and American politicians who feel the threat of terrorism justifies their behaving like fascist dictators. Now -that- is a real threat to ALL of us!

From looks, I'll admit it.......i do take a double take at those dressed in traditional muslin or middle eastern dress. I can't help it, I never act out obviously because I have more sense than that, but I do look twice. Heck if short chubby women with curly brown hair and fair skin (what i look like) were responsible for a terrorist attack, I'd expect people to look twice at me as well.

Aside from looks, extremist of ANY religion scare the heck out of me!!

It angers me more than scares me. I have family members and friends who are Muslims. I've spent a lot of time in Muslim countries. The people who say things like "we're at war with Islam" are beyond ignorant and a lot of them are simply stupid. Bigotry and stupidity are a dangerous combination.

Two of my very best friends are Muslims. They were born and grew up in Morocco and came here (legally) for college, loved it and became citizens. They are wonderful people - kind, generous, hard-working, genuine. I love them and they enrich my life.

I am only afraid of fundamentalist terrorists who say they want to kill me. I am most certainly NOT afraid of the vast majority of Muslims who are good, rational people.

in an effort to garner votes the current administration and the Republican party has scared many people into fearing all Muslims. That is a lot of people. Who would want to live in fear all the time????

You are absolutely right, there is a difference.
