When my husband and I lived in New Jersey, we went on several whale watching cruises. Here are some websites for the whale watches that operate in that area:

The Stellwagon Banks (I think that's what it's called) are a large feeding ground off of Massachusetts. I've been whale watching several times there. You can go from lots of different places -- Cape Cod, Plymouth, New London, CT. It's really fun!

But I don't know if you can make much money running a boat doing that. Why don't you contact a whale watching company and ask some questions?

Type Whale Watching into your browser and you'll find all sorts of info. Here's one link: http://www.whalewatch.com/

Good luck.

It's common along the California Coast and in Hawaii. There is also some in the Caribbean. It happens mainly in places where there are people with money to spare. Although there are some outfits that specialize in whale watching, as the whales migrate and only appear seasonally, it's mostly charter fishing companies who also do whale watching trips in season, or sometimes scuba dive boats who run it as a sideline. Running boats is expensive, especially with the cost of fuel these days. And fishing is hurting everywhere. Nobody's getting rich doing this. If you're thinking of getting into the business, you might try working on a boat for a while to learn more about it.
