the most selfless? *thinks* hmmm, idk, i don't usually muse over things i do to help out other people, it's usually never an afterthought. But, *thinks* i'd have to say, it started off as an unintentional selfless act, then became an intentional covering over soley for the principle.... i took the blame for someone else's depraved, indecent act, and took what anger & hatred should've been directed at them.
< I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And 'till the day i die, i'll never tell on them either; and want nothing in return. It's the principle, and well, we've all done things we regret, right? Right. As i said, it's the principle.>

and, the most selfish? *thinks* hmmm, this is difficult, i'm not selfish. But i think we've all done atleast one selfish thing. Can you give me a minute to think over this? Jog my memory? I am sure i can come up with something. ♥

*edit* okay, how about, i slept with someone i knew i didn't love and wasn't interested in having a relationship with. *thinks* that's pretty selfish, isn't it?

Everyday when I wake up and go to work at a job I hate is selflesss - I do it for my child. Also, a while ago I saw a jobless guy holding up a sign saying he had lost his job and has a 2 year old and a baby at home and needed groceries or anything. So I went and bought him alot of baby jar food, peanute butter and jelly and other non-perishable items because it was hot and I didn't want the stuff to spoil. I gave it to him and he almost had tears in his eyes. I felt so bad that after I left I cried. I also cut off 10 inches of my hair to donate - that's actually THE most selfless thing I've donwe because I LOVED my hair and I hate it short now. :-( Yesterday I gave blood. I also volunteered at the SPCA for 2 years in college. And adopted a blind dog and deaf cat.

Selfless - I had a major 9 and a half hour operation which resulted in my head being shaved and me being left with massive scars, partly because I knew that my mum would end up having to care for me if I didn't and I want her to have her own life.
Selfish - I also partly had that operation because I didn't want to be in constant pain for the rest of my life and my mum nursed me after it. So it was kinda selfless and selfish. The most selfish thing I've done though was to get on a motorbike when both my boyfriend and I were drunk which ended in the crash that resulted in me needing that operation.

Honestly I tried to come up with something that was truly selfless that I've done in my life thus far and I couldn't come up with one.
I gave birth to two children, but I did it because I wanted children and someone to love and care for.
I donated to children and homeless families at Christmas, but it was because I could emotionally relate to someone needing help and did it because it felt right.
I volunteered on an ambulance crew and at various organizations, but it gave me a feeling of intense pride and accomplishment.
All those things that I did that are said to be humanitarian or selfless are still selfish because in the end, I get the inner satisfaction.
I've never saved someone from a burning building.
I've never donated a kidney.
I've never said your life is more important than mine, take it.
But thinking about those circumstances, I'd still be rolling it over in my mind, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't do what was right or expected of me. Still a selfish thought.
I'm the one who benefits from everything I do.

The selfless thing is kinda gross. I was as at work in a super center better than Wal*Mart (Meijer) and I went to the bathroom. There was an elderly woman in the next stall who had a bout of diarrhea. She was crying so I asked if there was anything I could do for her. She asked me to find her husband (I had seen him right outside the door) and ask him to go buy her some new underwear. I did and waited and took it in to her and gave her some personal wipes that I had in my locker.

Selfish? I ate the last piece of my husband's birthday cake not knowing he was saving it for an evening snack. I had to go buy him a candy bar after that! I am sure there are worse incidents but that's what popped into my head.

Selfless- gave birth
Selfish- cried when it was time to go home after being in the hospital for 3 days- having nurses tend to my every want and need (and they were so nice!)

no, on a serious note though, the most selfish thing I've done is cheat on the person I loved the most...

SELFLESS: Got 3 biggies: let my husband have his sister in our wedding, gave birth to two kids and got a tubal ligation when my husband refused to get a vasectomy. Just being a mom is a selfless act on a daily basis, isn't it?

SELFISH: Not given money to charity when solicited to do so -mainly any group set up in front of Walmart at anytime of the year. I could always spare SOMETHING, right? But most of the time, I walk on by.

The most selfless thing I've ever done is keep a huge secret for someone I love. It eats me up every day of my life, but it would ruin people's lives if I told. So I have to deal with my inner-conflict

The most selfish thing I do is make plans without consulting my husband...its bad, I know, but I'm getting better!! We always conflict on teh weekends with what we want to do.

Selfless= Repaired vehicles for poor people. Buy toys and clothes for poor children.
Selfish= (If you want to call this selfish) Moved away from hateful, racist, selfish relatives to a part of the country that makes it difficult for them to achieve such a journey.

There was a family in our little town that lost their mother- left behind was the father and 3 teen daughters! For 2 months I cooked extra every single night and made sure they all had plenty of food. Took the girls shopping and gave them a friendship that will last always. Selfish? WOW- Id have to say I like being the good guy when it comes to my son soooo I always make his dad be the bad guy so Im not. I coudlnt bring myself to ever ground him or be mean to him in anyway! he's my baby! And i know its selfish making his dad always be the punisher- I just cant help it!
