Im having a hard time finding sources to support my paper. If anyone has anything or knows a good place to find. legal journals. stuff like that. not just links on the web. please let me know

Nevada has legalized prostitution and a lot of good info on it is there. Google nevada prostitution stats

Also, compare the ban on prostitution to Prohibition. Both have banned personal choices for moral/religious reasons. Obviously Prohibition was the failed social experiment, pretty amazing that prostitution is not seen in the same light.

I would base my case on hard facts, like number of arrests per percent of the population (not total arrests) and I bet that there has not been a huge difference in the percentages over the past 100s of years of banning it.

The safety of the general population through health testing of the prostitutes is another good hook.

If this essay is your opinion, you really don't need resources to support it. It's not really a research project when you have your own convictions, because they will either be in support of them, or against them, and in the process are liable to influence you unfavorably. Instead, try and think of how you would approach the subject if you were in a position of authority, such as the mayor of a city, or a legislator. Do you feel that legalization of prostitution would minimize crime? Do you feel that if it were legalized, certain requirements and restrictions would be imposed that would help to eliminate STD's? Would your opinion be a method to keep extortion from occurring, or stop the abuse or money-making activities of pimps that feed off the earnings of prostitutes? And finally, it would free the jails by keeping the hookers off the streets, and arranging "meetings' by appointment only? These, and other topics are certainly related to the pros of legalization, and I'm certain your arguments will contain many more since you've chosen this particular subject for your essay. You probably are having a hard time finding sources for this. You probably need to decide what way you want to go with your paper. If I were writing it I would write it from the stand point that it could help lower the transmission of std's because the government could regulate it and have the men or women get regular examinations. It would also help with crime because cops would not have to be out catching prostitutes or their johns. You could look up how many people annually get arrested for prostitution and the solicitation of a prostitute and you could also look up (i don't know if you can find it) the rates of people contracting an std from a prostitute. I hope this helps you a little bit. I don't know of anywhere you can find information on this unless you look at countries that already have it legalized and compare.
