In my opinion, there are problems on both ends
For humans, we speak using emotion and sarcasm, which for a straight computer, is hard to interpret. Also, we use hand gestures and eye contact as well.
For computers, they are very literal. And they output data faster then we can process it. Equation goes in, solution comes out. Humans can't cope with raw data like machines can

Its the human on either end. Most people dont type properly, use improper spelling and cant qualify their text with emotion, leading to misinterpretation on the other end. This of course is improved with webcams and voice communications however, but since your question was vague and non-specific, I think my response is a perfectly appropriate answer..
