I would like to start a "club" of sorts in my area for kids around my son's age (13) and plan activities for them. I know the Putt Putt will let you rent the entire facility for the entire night and have a lock-in for "x" amount of money. I want to start out small and just see where it goes. Start with my son's friends and kids we know and let it branch. As parents, what would be some of your concerns letting your kids do this type of thing? I know you can do skating rinks as well. If/when it gets bigger do you think the gay card will come into play? Do you think this will be a good idea or will it just flop in my face? Can you think of other lock-in type ideas that I can file away for later dates?

Well, I am an EMT/Firefighter (that's were Blaze comes from) and I wouldn't have them anywhere that doesn't do it anyway. I assume that the people that work at these places are trained as well. No way I'm take 20 kids into the woods.

Nah, if you're a parent its a way of sharing and networking to get some action into your kids life. If anyone has a gay problem it will be their problem and you'll have to deal with it. I suspect that you will get support from other parents.

Some amusement parks have group packages, I know the NE Aquarium has lockin sleepovers. The local double a baseball teams gives away a skybox once a week for kids to enjoy a game with pizza.

I think its a great idea. Way to go.

I think it's a great idea. The only thing is a lot of times you can't just drop kids off and expect the employees of an entertainment business to watch over them. I'm sure there will be some people who disagree but maybe you can get them involved too by asking them to chaperone (and in return maybe they won't disagree so much if they can be there with the kids).

i have to say, unless i knew the person running the event and knew they had first aid training, knowledge of kids and alot of extra help, i wouldn't let my son attend. lock ins are usually done by organizations recognized by the general public. if this were run just by a parent, i'd have to decline. it's a wonderful idea, helping the kids and giving them a place to hang with things to do, but in these times, i wouldn't feel safe.
