But, which dialect of English is the correct one? Is it only the dialect that you happen to speak or is it the dialect spoken in "broadcaster standard" or is the correct English the UK "RP" version?

Therein lies the issue. There is indeed a documented and studied dialect called "African American Vernacular English" that is a valid dialect and is spoken by many people. In that group, it is the correct dialect.

Do you also get angry at people who speak the other dialects of English. Does hearing one of the Southern American English dialects also make you want to stab people in the face? How about Southern California dialect? I still have trouble understanding New England dialects - but that doesn't make my dialect correct and theirs the "wrong" English.

Here's the real deal. There are many dialects of English in the United States and beyond. They are all "correct" for what they are. Some have a higher social value than others. Any way you cut it though - you don't get to decide what languages other people speak. You only get to decide what languages you speak.

You see, your own usage isn't exactly correct either. It's "if I hear..." and we "speak" a dialect we don't "talk" it (that would be a Southern American English colloquialism). Those who speak poorly might be a "drain on society..." but probably not "a drain on the society...". It's "never make anything of yourselves" since you are speaking of a group and not an individual. (also a southern usage marker)

But, it's ok. Your dialect is English too and it would be foolish of people to tell you that you're not really speaking English. Instead of wanting to stab them in the face, perhaps you could enjoy learning why different people speak with different dialects of the same language. It's actually very interesting study. It's even more fun to learn to speak in a variety of dialects convincingly.
