I have a 15 year old daughter. What I would like most from her is for her to take the initiative and help around the house without being asked or told or reminded. Not just one day, but every day.

The reason why I would like that is because then I wouldn't have to nag her or feel resentment when she didn't just pitch in, which I believe is destructive to a relationship.

The other thing I would love is for her to not stay in her room and just sit out in the general area of the house with us and do something as simple as just have a nice conversation about our days together. Because I can't help but think in two and a half years she'll be done with high school and out in the world or off to college, and I won't see her as much, so it would be nice to just enjoy her now while I can.

Anything she could buy really wouldn't mean too much to me, although I would appreciate it, it wouldn't compare to the things above.

I like the coupon book idea too, because then it gives the giver some control over what they would like to contribute, and the receiver some control over when they could cash it in.

(1) Get her a jewelry box
(2) Some jewelry
(3) Lotions ( oil of olay)
(4) Something nice to wear (nice comfy sleeping pants?)
(5) A nice shirt plush/fluffy socks
(6) A cool book (does she like to read?)
(7) A nice Christmas card
(8) Make her dinner and clean the house
(9) Get her something for her computer (does she like electronics?)
(10)Kitchen Appliances (toasted, blender, mixer, crockpot, toaster oven, etc)

You could always hint around and ask what she's interested in.

Have a great Christmas.

Cheers

BEEN THIER HON... i was in the same perdicament not to long ago with my ex..i found myself still thinking about him even though he treated me like crap and i found someone who truely makes me happy...well the first thing i did was break ties with him...if he was ur frist love like he was mine...its better if u don;t call him or see him for a long time....but that could be harder said then done.Right.. well maybe u need some closure why don't u meet him in person but NOT ALONE in a public place and talk... then telll him ur really happy now and are ready to move on...thats what i did and i felt so much better afterword...i did it for my self more than for him....after that i broke all ties with him.. i still think about him every now and then but not with the strong urgeing that i did before....HOPE THAT HELPS GOOD LUCK.

It will mean a lot if you get her something that she has shown interest in, it doesnt have to be expensive or anything. The point is to show her that you care and know what she is in to. And if she cooks dinner for your family every night, that doesnt mean she is into cooking. She might be but might not be. Find out what actually interests her. For example, I know my mother likes to do puzzles, and is big into her Native American heritage. So for gifts I might get here some native themed puzzles.

Say "look mom, I can SPELL and type a proper sentence". Then she would finally realize that all the time and effort she has put into your education wouldn't have been a complete waste.

Massages and nail certificates. Or maybe like candles from Yankee candle. Its relaxing. Or maybe babysit for any other siblings and get your parents a gift card to their favorite restaurant. Jewelry always works with my mommy.! :)
