Nearest geographically would be Heathrow. Easiest to get to/from would be Gatwick via the direct train line from Victoria Station.

Heathrow is the closest airport in terms of mileage; the Underground journey from Heathrow will take around 55 minutes (changing from the Piccadilly Line to the District Line at Hammersmith or Earls Court)
Gatwick Airport is the quickest and most convenient airport
for reaching Victoria; the Gatwick Express train runs every 15 minutes and takes 30 minutes to reach Victoria and
'Southern Trains' run at least every 15 minutes and take 34 to 38 minutes and charge lower fares than the Gatwick Express.

In terms of time taken to Victoria: The Gatwick Express takes 30 mins at a cost of 15.90. The Southern Service from Gatwick takes around 38 minutes and costs 8.90. The only way of getting from Heathrow to Victoria is on the underground, which cost 4.00 and takes around 1 hour.
There is a coach from Stanstead to Victoria which, I guess takes up to 2 hours, I dont know the price.
You can take a train to Liverpool St and the Circle Line to Victoria which will cost you 18.50

Gatwick will be your best option, because of the Gatwick express from Victoria station. But if you want the nearest station then London City airport will be the closest. Getting to Heathrow you will need to get to Paddington to get the Heathrow Express.

Yes the Gatwick Express runs every 15 minutes and takes 30 minutes. Much cheaper and only 5 minutes longer travelling time are 'Southern Trains' which also run at least every 15 minutes. Ask for a ticket to Victoria via Southern Trains.

Picadilly Line tube to Heathrow or Gatwick Express from Gatwick. Personally, I'd side with the train from Gatwick after a long flight..

The Gatwick Express goes from Victoria.

Gatwick is by far the best, train service taking about 35 mins every 15 mins between 6am and midnight then hourly.

Heathrow: Two options, HeathrowExpress to Paddington, circle line to Victoria, VERY expensive, or Underground (Piccadilly Line) and a change.

Stansted: Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale (again every 15 mins most of the day), then Victoria Line to Victoria.

I think Gatwick is easier.
Try & avoid using the Gatwick Express though - it's overpriced - you can take the normal commuter train - it takes about 5/10 minutes longer, but is at least £10 cheaper! You can buy a drink with your spare change : )
