It was american, and was basically a soap opera in the 60's - I don't remember the storyline (i was born in early 60's, so i never saw it) but from what i heard it was one of those over-the-top cheesy dramas that got a lot of people hooked on the soap opera type programming where something different happened each week that followed a storyline instead of having a different episode about something new each week as most dramas were done back then.

It was American - a story about a single mother and her daughter. The mother had a questionable reputation and the daughter had to deal with it. Very good show - I use to watch every episode! I don't remember Ryan O'Neil being in it - but Mia Farrow played the part of the daughter.

Yes I do. It was an American TV show that ran from 1964 to 1969. While I wasn't born when the series was on TV, I got hooked on the books when I was older, and I just had to check out the show. It's run on the Romance Channel and I was able to catch most of the soap opera there.
You can check it out in length here:

It was a tv series based on a movie based on a book. Basically just a soap opera, but Wikipedia has a pretty good rundown on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Place_(TV_series)
Oddly enough, neither Ryan O'Neill nor Mia Farrow got top billing.

1. Go to: "Research your answer" on your question page.
2. Type in: Was Peyton Place American or British?
3. Go to: #1. All of the information that you're seeking is there. One of my uncles was so "hung up" on that show back in the 60's. He almost "died" if he missed an episode. I was young, so I couldn't watch it. I remember seeing Dorothy Malone's face a few times as the credits came on. I thought she was pretty.

It was an American soap opera in the 1960s. There was alos a book and a movie with the same name. It's your basic soap, revolving around the characters in a small New England town.

Peyton Place was American. I believe the plot was a young adult girl wrote about her City, hence Peyton Place. The neighbors all got mad because it had lots of area gossip in it.
