No, it only speeds up global warming but they will do it anyway because of the strong power of the oil lobbies. It's all about the money and as long as oil is in high demand and low in supply, the price will remain high. Knowing that the supply is limited, going to antarctica is just another excuse to rely on oil for the tycoons to stay wealthy.

not really if you want everything to remain the same but progress is what the world is all about and so the simple truth is that we need the minerals that are there so it will be 'dug up' as you put it.
Mind you, the way the governments of the east and west are going, i wouldnt be surprised if we have a war over it first.

It's not feasible, even if the oil companies got approval The shifting ice sheets would destroy their wells and drilling equipment, besides the increased cost of building, staffing, and maintaining it. It just won't happen.
