Life isn't fair. Where does an expectation of fair-ness come from?

If you agreed to purchase something exactly the same as I have, right next door from me at approximately the same time and you pay more than I did, it just means I am a better negtiator and that someone made more money off of you than off of me.

It is difficult to say things are exactly the same. If it isn't done at the same time location conditions change, especially for real estate. Is it fair to me if you buy the same exact thing, right next door, at the same time for a lower price?

good luck!

I assume that you are referring to a property that looks about the same on the outside. If there are two different owners the price may be fair even if it is considerably different. One person may have more equity in the property than the other due to higher interest etc..on the loan. A lot of different factors can affect the price of a property. The are to numerous to list on this page. If in doubt consult a local real estate broker.

Landlords and sellers are not obligated to offer their properties for rent or sale at the same price even if the properties are identical.

What they cannot do is charge the higher price to all members of a legally protected group, such as blacks, handicapped people, or people over 65. That's discrimination and is illegal. They can (and some probably do) charge more for people they don't like or trust, for whatever reason.

Sorry, but it doesn't matter if it's fair. What matters is if you've agreed to a purchase price, even if whatever it is may be next to mine, even identical, that's what it costs. That's how real estate works. You sell property for the best price you can get.

if you "purchase" you have agreed to a price. That's fair.

Purchase what? A door?

I'd say you are losing out!
