if you mean 'faith' as in of god/religion i wouldn't say it is a total lie as the existence can't be proven as all religions are is one person/groups interpretation on how we should live life.

The reason why i don't have 'faith' is due to the fact that religions can be manipulated very easily by people and people kill other people due to religious differences and yet they call this a 'Holy war', what rubbish.

As Nietzsche put it, "All things are subject to interpretation and whichever interpretation prevails at any given time is a function of power NOT truth"

Are you alive? If so how could faith be a lie?

Without faith, that things will get better, we might as well give up right now, and sit at home and wait for death.

Faith is what binds us togather, a child trusts its mother, and has full faith that his father will provide food and shelter.

You may not see your god, but then again if you don't SEE the oxgen in the air, does it mean it's not therre, or that its' a lie.

Faith to me is about trusting in one another, keeping families togather, praying to whomever we choose to as indivisuals.

Faith in God does not belong to any particular religion, it's to me a trust in an unknown force, which, lets face it, is the only reason we (The whole human race) survive. Faith that we will see another day.

Oh weary traveller, just come and see
the wonderful plans of our mighty god
As the black night follows the sun,
The day follows the night, as it flees

From the very first day of life,
The has been nailed along,
With every Death, rises the faith, that,
soul will see once again, that day of life

When Pandora opened that box and let all the evil, out,
Left hope that one day faith will conuqe all no doubt.
I have lived on that hope, and prayed to in HIM,
He will, through my failth, will for give all my sin.

The only true lie my friend, is this life ,
It is forever changing, but alway but constant,
Death is the only constant truth my friend,
And in the end, we will all have to die.

p.s. Is long enough for ya?

A lie? Just like religion, faith is a human construct. In other words, we made it up. But since most of us need to believe this is not all there is, I think of faith as kind of a white lie, which people tell to comfort themselves and others. Of course when we use it to control or destroy people, it becomes an abomination. I've seen both sides of faith, and am more or less agnostic,so this may explain my "flip flop."

Faith by definition is an extreme belief, if you believe in anything, it's a faith. Faith in a seemingly false cause or one derived from hearsay, gossip, stories, may eventually feel like a lie. Faith is often derived from not questioning basic logic - often based on past experience.

Say, you can hit a 3-point shot in basketball anytime you wanted, so eventually you gain faith in your ability. So even though logic and probability say you can't always hit it, you deny logic, and still have faith that you can hit the shot. To you, it's not a lie.

Short answer, yes. It is an indulgence - injecting a sense of knowledge or certainty where we have no right to one. If earned, I think we call it confidence rather than faith. I am confident that I can bench 100 lbs because I have done it many times. But I have only faith about say, what happens when I die.

Well it depends if you have blind faith or not!
Personally I don't "buy" into the whole religion thing, but that doesn't mean I have no faith, no soul or lack spirituality.

I assumed you mean "faith" in the religious sense? Because really its not just that is it? You must have faith in something. Belief of something.... you have faith that when you wake up tomorrow morning the sun will come up!

Faith isn't just something applied to "the religious" and not applicable to anyone who hasn't gone down that route. Everyone has faith and believes something... even if you choose to not believe, then you have faith in your belief and your choice (not to believe).

faith
1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability.
2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.
3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims.
4. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.: to be of the same faith with someone concerning honesty.
5. a system of religious belief: the Christian faith; the Jewish faith.
6. the obligation of loyalty or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement, etc.: Failure to appear would be breaking faith.
7. the observance of this obligation; fidelity to one's promise, oath, allegiance, etc.: He was the only one who proved his faith during our recent troubles.
8. Christian Theology. the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.
9. in faith, in truth; indeed: In faith, he is a fine lad.

What means faith for you?
Some take this world to describe his/her believe in something, others faith is a creed or religion.
Faith in Sanskrit can be of 2 types, material and spiritual faith. the first one is about believe, we accept something as true because we hear some people say so, so it is sentimentalist, blind.
The spiritual faith on the other hand is the personal spiritual experience that one have, like he/she had saw, felt his spiritual body or God.

No! Otherwise it would not be faith. Faith is believing even though you cannot see.
Jesus said "if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can say to a mountain go throw your self in the sea and it will be done" in other words if you have faith big enough to be seen. You may not be able to see faith but you can see it's effects, if you look hard enough in the right places.

Faith is a "thing," and as such cannot be a lie. But the object of faith can be a false object in which to have faith.

faith is believing on certain things that you yourself cannot see... if ever you believe that your faith is about a total lie you cannot call it faith anymore because how can you believe in something that you know it is a lie??
