i broke up with my ex of 3 years 3 months ago. I met a guy and he asked me to consider going out with him but he is afraid i am using him as a rebound. But i am only in the process of trying to get toknow the guy. So far, if i haven't said yes to going out with him, is this considered a rebound? Or does rebound mean bf/gf and dating. We are just friends getting to know each other.

What is a rebound in the first place? I mean - whether or not you just got out of a relationship - dating someone new is always a gamble... It will either work or it won't - you either get along or you don't.. rebound doesn't have anything to do with it... I know many that ended up marrieing their "rebound" and others who ended up dating lots of people...
I don't know - I think it is silly "label" and thats about it!

A rebound relationship is where you jump into someone else's arms when you aren't over your previous relationship.

It really all depends how you feel about your ex now. Are you over the breakup, or do you still have feelings for him? If you are still in love and hurting over your ex, this is not the time to get involved with someone else.

If this guy wants to be more than just friends, and you don't, then you need to make that clear to him. Sounds like he doesn't see it as just 'friends getting to know each other', so you need to be honest and fair to him.

You are using him as a rebound to forget you old boyrfiend but then again you would be using him as a rebound if you were going out with tell him he is not a rebound you are just not interested in a serious relationship right know.

If you broke up w/your ex over 3 years ago, I highly doubt this can be considered a "rebound".

no having a friend is not considered a rebound and tell this dude that you are not at the point of considering him to even be your b/f. You need to be upfront.

Cartoonist Andy Capp once said "the only thing that fits in a pigeonhole is a pigeon."

How about not trying to classify a relationship you don't have yet? "I don't know where this is going, if it's going anyplace at all - I just know that I enjoy your company and would like to get to know you better."

If you are tiring to get back into the dating scene one needs to get their feet wet again, so to me for someone to say this to you, I'd tell them if that's what you think, there are other fish in the sea. Just my thought here.
Get out there and enjoy yourself, best to you.
