Subscribe to DSL or Cable internet. Check with your service provider on what's available to you. Your system seems above average and would be more than able to handle either one. Using dial up is like going back into the stone age. You won't believe the difference in speed when you do decide to switch!

Having lots of RAM means the computer can deal with lots of data at once.
Having a fast processor means it can deal with data quickly.
Having dial up means that the wire which gets the data to your computer can only transfer it very slowly.
It doesn't matter how quickly you can deal with the information if it isn't there. This is somewhat akin to having an office with 1000 workers to deal with incoming queries ... which all come over a single fax machine.

Have you run Defrag yet, If the data is all over the HD it takes time to get to it. If after Defragging and it's still here the other thing. Could be the beginning of a HD problem. Symptoms of a HD's going bad is slowing down.

if youre using dial up internet, thats your problem with the internet. dialup only runs at 56kbps, while most hi-speeds run at over 700kbps. mine runs at 1400kbps.
