How do you stick to it and what does it consist of, e.g. hoover every tuesday and thursday...Iron on Thursday night.

What have you found that works for you?

Are there any ready made schedules available anywhere so I can be sure I dont miss something out?

Thanks

Learn to recognize that certain tone in your spouses voice that indicates "I have a chore for you", then run for a hiding place.

OK, actually I have a routine just like you suggest. With a routine things don't stack up until they become overwhelming.

I guess I stick to it because it works. If you have trouble sticking to your routine or something else with a higher priority always pops up, try a different routine until you find one that works for you.

When you find the right routine, you will stick to it.

i only go to school on tues. and thurs. so when im at school my fiance does laundry, dishes, and dinner. on mon. wed. and fri. i do homework first then i vacuum and dust. i finish whatever laundry is left and then i make dinner. we both share the chores if something wasnt finished the day before the other person will do it.. sometimes we slack because he works long hours 10-15, and im in school all day until 7. it helps if you are able to split the chores up between at least 2 people. if not then sit down and write out an organized plan and be sure that you dont overload on any of the days you want or need to clean for example:
mondays- laundry, and dishes
tuesdays- vacuum and dust
wednesdays-bathroom cleaning
thursdays- laundry and dishes
friday- vacuum and dust
this way you have the weekend to catch up on whatever or relax.
hope this helps somewhat

Yes,

I have an everyday routine...

In the AM. I wipe down the bathroom with antibacterial wipe (toilet/sink/countertops)... Ditto in kitchen.. I unload/load dishwasher... sweep... Once a week I deep clean both areas.. Washing the rugs... Scour tub/sink/toilet...sweep/mop.

The bedrooms I make the bed everyday..Once a week I dust/change linens.. I also vacuum everyday... Laundry day I wash/fold and my husband puts away....

Livingroom/Family room I vacuum everyday.. Dust 1x-2x a week.... Clean glass/windows 1x a week....

This works for me... I'm a SAHM of 2 boys ages 1 1/2 and 3 1/2... I also have a dog... I work in the evenings so I try to keep up with things during the week...

I have a list on my fridge it's lamintated and I just mark it off.. Also, my husband can look at the list and do the unmarked things... good luck

As a matter of fact, I do have a sort-of routine.

When I get up in the morning, I make the bed- except on Mondays: Then I strip it and throw the sheets in the washer. Then I grab a cleaning rag and after I finish in the bathroom I wipe down the sink and the outside of the toilet with Lysol. After that, I put away the clean dishes from the night before, start up the coffee pot, then grab a plastic bag and tend the cats' boxes. After that, the garbage goes out. On Mondays, I then dust, vacuum, and mop.

After that, the day is pretty much mine as I please.

Alot of stuff can be a "as you go along" type of thing- keeping a squeegie in the bathtub to wipe the walls after a shower, keeping spray bottles and towels or rags in different spots to wipe counters down, etc..... Sunday morning we head to a laundromat in a shopping plaza that also has a diner. We pop the clothes in for a wash, and have breakfast while the clothes get clean. While they dry we grocery shop, again in the same plaza. Combining chores helps alot!

I clean houses and offices for extra money so to keep my home up I try to do something everyday. Like keeping the dishes up and keeping items picked up. If I am doing deep cleaning of the house I start top to bottom and take one room at a time. I fine if I do one thing every day my house stays in order.

I used to do lot of work everyday but still my house was not clean as i wanted but now after lots of experiments I came to know to keep house neat and clean is to do chores regularly.I dont spend too much time on cleaning
the most important place is kitchen and washroom so I clean these everyday but just do one or two chore at one day not too much work. e.g one day after dishwashing I clean microwave properly next day fridge, then one cabinet and so on. it keeps my kitchen neat and clean everyday( never leave dishes on counter) and wipe down everything. same with washroom one day I will clean shower stand then jackuzie then cabinets and so on

I have a routine that is roughly based off the flylady. While my routine isn't exactly like hers, it did give me a great starting place for making my own schedule as well as dealing with my overwhelming clutter. Hope this helps and good luck!
