. . . at the Yahoo! Answers Meetup in Washington, D.C., on November 30?

Or, would giving up the anonymity remove much of the lure of Yahoo! Answers?

Do you think Yahoo! should consider need to hiring security to referee for those from the more polarized forums (e.g. GWS, R&S, etc.)? LOL

I've been to that Clyde's. It's a nice, large restaurant, but it is just a restaurant. They can accommodate, they say, up to 175 in a single party. So, Yahoo! is not planning for hundreds to show up.

I think the Yahoo! Risk Management Team made a "wise" call in not having it on the east coast and not in SoCal, despite the warmer weather.

This way people can wear whatever color they want without worrying about drive-bys. LOL

The well educated and sophisticated Northern, VA / DC crowd tends to be pretty civilized.

Maybe next year they can do it in SoCal. That'll give me enough time to save up for a body armor vest.

Good morning, well, almost afternoon :)

I'm sure a lot of people are hiding behind avatars with life stories that none of us aware of. However, revealing what they look like for one night won't really compromise much of their anonymity, except the physical part. I sure hope someone tapes the freak show so that I can watch it on Youtube tho' :)

The selection of the city/state will negatively affect attendance. Who wants to get out in the 40-degree cold? Or is it more like 30 now? It would have been, of course, a different story if it was on the west coast....CA, LA to be exact... LOL

EDIT:

LOL!

Well, considering it's 85 degrees today, I assume it would be more of a pool or beach party--both of which requiring more skin than color. But...come to think of it... maybe we need to keep it covered on the East Coast....we all know about someone's pet peeve and I'm not trying to see too many of the women in a bikini either :)

I imagine quite a few people will attend. At least those that are in the general area. I don't think Q&A is popular enough for people to drive more than 2 hours though. DC is about 13 hours from me and I don't think I would spend that much time driving to meet people I really don't know too well.

All in all though I imagine the turn out will be 300-400 people in that area. I hope you all have fun, let us know how it turns out!

Hi steve,
I'm pretty sure that they will be more than 500 people that will attend.

Lioness is right though,I sure wish that somebody can tape the event so that I can get a sneak peak on Youtube.

I'm thinking Yahoo really doesn't want anyone to show up. They were trying to be nice. And what is with the only the East coast people are welcome?

My guess is around a thousand people. Most people have to work or can't make travel arrangements to get there.

I think it will be a high school prom. Guys on one side, girls on the other. A pack of nerds who have more money than they know what to do with.
