The flight from Tehran to Sydney takes 10 hours.
The flight from Sydney to Johannesburg takes 10 hours.
The flight from Johannesburg to Washington takes 10 hours.

How long does it take to fly from Sydney to Washington?
(the numbers are slighly doctored, but not much)

Interesting .....

Well, lets see, Alexander a pretty clever guy . . . .

We are playing the great circle game! Itsa 'bout 40,000 klicks to circumvent the earth. (Me thinks that Perth would have been a slightly better final destination than Sydney).

No matter how you go, via Tehran, Johannesburg, Honolulu or Tokyo (all about a 10 hour flight from Washington), to go half way 'round the world to Sydney requires a the flight of 20 hours. :-)

If we assume straight line travel, then the 4 destinations represent the vertices of a rhombus. Sydney and Washington are opposite each other. Hence, the time T that it takes to fly from Sydney to Washington is:
0 < T < 20 hrs

i believe this means the places are in a sqaure, with sydney and washington being i opposite corners. to solve use phytagoras' theorem

10^2 +10^2 = time^2

square root of 200 = time

=14.41214
= 14 hours 24 minutes
