They don't need to. From an engineering standpoint, ID is fascinating... in fact many of the scientists who investigate ID happen to be engineers, and they are all about DESIGN. Isn't it about time we took a refreshing new look at Darwinism, and shake off the musty orthodoxy that has descended upon the theory?

Because the idea there is a God is an idea that they don't like.

Proponents of ID want to teach religion as science; that prevents students from actually learning and understanding science, which is wrong.

The people who do real science also use engineering principles to understand evolution.

Maybe if you learned something about evolution you'd find it at least as fascinating as ID. Then there's the added bonus of it being based on reason and evidence, not unfounded assumptions of an all-powerful, consious, infinitely-complex thing that exists without having been created. Since there's no evidence of such a being, ID is unfounded.

Instead of linking to movies, why don't you summarize a key point or two.

They do not see intelligent design as a threat. The biggest issue that many within the scientific community see is proposing an entirely non scientific idea as science.

From my studies and interaction I fdo find that many are fascinated with the idea of intelligent design however, there is no evidence or data to verify, said idea. Within the analytical mindset of a scientist proof is a hot commodity. Currently the only theory as to the origins of mankind that offers some form of tangible proof is evolution.

Many aspects of ID conflict with the theory of evolution. The biggest conflict is the age of the universe.

For instance, ID asks why is there a thin layer of dust on the moon when there should be several feet after millions of years. Or how big the sun must have been in the distant past... big enough to engulf primortal earth.

They see it as a threat to their religion. The truth is that many who follow Darwin's evolution do so without knowing much about it, and especially its flaws. They blindly adhere to it, not noticing that at its heart, Darwin's theory is more about philosophy than science. It is no surprise that engineers find ID fascinating. Intelligent people actually study ideas before they blindly reject them. There are many who follow Darwin that don't know anything about ID...and a lot of other things as well.

They're not threaten by it. Most evolutionists were taught intelligent design in Sunday schools. Is mostly creationists who are threatened by evolution, to the point they want to teach it in schools. Christian and Jewish children already know the creation story from their Sunday or Hebrew schools. Other children from different faiths have their own beliefs on it, in schools they learn about the theory of evolution. If intelligent design is taught at schools then we'd also have to teach the Hindu or Taoism's views on creation. Then we are headed towards a road no one wants to go.

None do, we're just tired of some people saying it's science when it's not, it's faith based.

Joke:

A group of engineers were sitting around debating what type of engineer God must be. The Mechanical engineer stood up and said "it's obvious God is a Mechanical engineer... just look at the complexity of the muscular and skeletal systems".. then another stood up and said "no, it's obvious he's an electrical engineer.. just look at the nervous system with all of it's firing synapses" ... another engineer just laughed and stood and said "look guys.. there's no doubt he's an Civil engineer... who else would put a recreation zone in the middle of a waste management area".

It is not a scientific threat..it is a cultural threat that sends us back to the stone age. Religobots are trying to ram it down everyone's throat by calling it a science and trying to get it taught in public schools. That is a threat to the separation of church and state as specified in the first amendment. It also is a model of how not to conduct scientific inquiry and from both of those standpoints, it threatens the scientific and constitutional underpinnings of our society.

I believe in the theory of evolution. I am a Christian.

i'm not saying that i don't believe that God created everything. i'm just saying... who am I to put words in his mouth, or to tell others that they're wrong when there's no way for me to know how God created the universe?

and i quote God from the book of job:

" Where wast thou when I laid up the foundations of the earth ? tell me if thou hast understanding. " Job 38:4

hey... good point GOD! we don't know how you created the world, so why should we all hate each other over our beliefs of how you did it!?

God, do you think we should stop hating each other over this? me too.

God, do you think your followers should stop worrying about evolution and start spreading your loving word, cloth the naked and feed your little sheep?

i think so to.

They should because, it is.
Very interesting that when a scientist studies the lowly protozoa and discovers its mode of locomotion is the first primitive rotary motor, he realizes one must agree that greater intelligent design exists.

We don't, we see it as nonsense promoted as truth. Did you not watch "Judgement Day"?

By the way - accepting that evolution is valid science is not Darwinism. Learn your terminology before arguing against it.
