Anything related to music... a biography about a band/artist, story about a fictional band, etc...

My favorites are Empire Records, Airheads, Velvet Goldmine, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (hilarious), The Doors, and many more.

The Temptations was a really good movie. I think it could make anyone appreciate Motown, which is one genre of music that I like outside of Heavy Metal, it was about the group's career and personal lives, and had a lot of music in the film. I also like This is Spinal Tap! as a comedy and A Headbanger's Journey as a documentary. I also like that movie Almost Famous. There's probably a lot I'm forgetting though. A classic to watch is "The Last Waltz" directed by Martin Scorsese. It follows the final concert of "The Band" who were Bob Dylans supporting group for a while in the 60's. Its brilliant, features Clapton, Neil Young and many others. Look out for the part when Eric Claptons guitar strap breaks and one of the guys from the band (I think Robbie Robertson) steps in with a killer solo

Not sure about my favorite but South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut killed me. Not necessarily about music but definitely a musical.

Other good ones:

Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus
KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park (just because it's so bad)

Oh yeah, throw in GWAR's Phallus In Wonderland. That's up there near the top of the list as well.

How about Suburbia, the old-school punk flick that had Flea when he was about 10?

Saturn - It's in a class of itself, probably extending B-movies to C-movies.
I need to check out We Jam Econo, that would be great.

Wow Spooky! I was going to say the exact same thing before I read your answer. Velvet Goldmine gets my vote, too. And I'll tell you what -- Jonathan Rhys Meyers was also looking pretty darn good.
