They are a toy for rich people, if money is your problem then timeshare might not be for you.

This system makes vacation home ownership possible for many people who cannot afford a second home or who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such RESORT facilities. It is important to remember that purchasing timeshare SHOULD NEVER be viewed as a FINANCIAL INVESTMENT with the expectation of gaining a profit in either reselling it or renting it to someone else. Timeshare is an investment in LIFESTYLE, in future holidays, in FAMILY TIME , and when viewed that way it can be a good investment indeed.

Many of the original time shares were a method of having several places to choose from for vacation possibilities. The idea of purchasing vacation time in weekly increments made sense. Golfers purchased golfing destination timeshares; boaters had marine timeshares, etc. The biggest drawback had to be the inability of getting reserved time at a specific location, on top of which , service charges for linens, clean up ,etc never came into the picture at sales time.
