I currently have 1Gig of memory (PC2700 DDR, on two cards) in my desktop computer and want to increase the RAM size. (I do a lot of video editing.) The only thing available in my area now is 1Gig PC3200 DDR cards. Can I use these cards, or are they incompatible?

It will clock down to 2700 and should run ok. My recommendation is to go to www.crucial.com and use their memory finder thing (sorry, I don't know what it's called), but you'll put in your computer type and it will give you a list of compatible memory and everything. It's very detailed and I've used it quite a bit when doing side jobs installing memory and upgrades for people.

Well, if you buy it from a Fry's or Circuit City, which yould be your best bet, they have it written on the particular product/s if they are compatible with the Operating System and hard disk type you are using; also, you can ask the salesperson/consultant, like in Fry's, and they usually are good at pointing out the right one with kind of budget you have & the amount of memory you want...that's how I did it, successfully, few months ago with my laptop...this will be the way to go.

definite it particularly is going to be no difficulty - in simple terms be sure you get the nicely suited memory form (e.g. DDR, DDR2 or DDR3 are the main well liked styles of memory for computing gadget desktops). There could be no difficulty with upgrading and, assuming you have twin-channel, you are able to circulate from 1GB to 2GB through ability of paying for for yet another 1GB of memory and including that for the period of. desire that enables.

You might be able to use them.

Try purchasing one of the cards and put it into your computer. If your computer starts a long series of beeps, its not compatible with your computer. You then can take it back and just say it didn't work.

Hi. They are compatible but will run at the limit of your PC, probably 2700 (2.7 GB per second, I think).
