Need advice which area to stay in San Fransico?

My family (2 adults& 2 kids - 4 & 2 year old) plan to staying in San Fransico for 2 years as my husband is going to work there.

1) Which place/area is safe and nice to stay for chinese family?
2) What are the things to take note and prepare as this is the 1st time I stay oversea for such a long period?
3) How to manage home sick for myself and kids?
4) Any places in San Fransico have Singapore food?
5) What is the best way to adapt when staying oversea?
6) Others if you can share with me your experience.....

40% residents in SF are asian, most are chinese
1) sunset and richmond area
2) be prepare $2000 rent for 2 bedroom/1 bathroom
3) go church and join singapore club, there are 3 chinese TV channels.
4) everywhere
5) read book, listen music,enjoy sunshine, go outside.
6)don't go unsafe area at night,
