if you were stuck in a small space, wouldnt you want to move around and try to get comfortable?

Somemovements are involuntary, sometimes they just like to move their little limbs, it's very cramped in there! That's also how they respond to being pushed on, and sometimes after the mother eats they do it.

because they rotate every now and then to positioned in preparation for them to come out in the open world.

Because they are alive and move around, much the same as you do when you are in bed sleeping.
