It depends on what the person is comfortable with. Those who are confidant and comfortable about their sexuality tend to put it out there ( and there is nothing wrong with that)...I think a healthy dose of self-love is what everyone needs...those who are quite about it and think other should be too have the right to their opinion but I would challenge them to love themselves more...

It's a natural response to the hatred and prejudice which if often directed toward the LGBT community.
You just don't see that many folks joked about, discriminated against, beaten or killed for being SUSPECTED of being straight.
As long as some segments of society profess that homosexual orientation is something of which to be ashamed, it's only reasonable to expect pushback in the form of "Gay Pride."
Funny...we straight folks don't seem to have the urge to have a straight pride parade. Why? Nobody's belittling us for straightness or demanding that we keep our straightness closeted.

Dearie,
My thoughts are that when the "straight lifestyle" stops being shoved down everyone's throat in all the ads and movies and TV programs, only THEN will I discourage my LGBT friends from letting people know that there is a whole range of human orientations.
Until that time, you are joining us to work towards equal rights, correct?
Correct?
Why not?

What are you talking about?
I certainly don't know anyone who does what you suggest in your main question.
As for the second part: being a lesbian is about a lot more than "holes and things" ... but I certainly only discuss "holes and things" with one person.
You must know some strange, and vulgar people.

If I were to approach you in a crowd and talk to you about my sexuality then yes that would be wrong, but if you attack someone for their sexuality casusing them to develpope a need to defend themselves then you would be in the wrong.
So what do you think the reason that sexuality is not kept private? Could it be that people have a need to defend themselves?

Uh, its gonna be kind of obvious when the person you are dating and/or living with as a couple is the same gender as you, no matter how open or private the two of you are about your sex life.

sexuality is NOT just the mechanics of intercourse.. lots of str8 people try to minimize the gay plight by using this argument... but it also has to do with who you want to marry and build a life with... who you take to the Christmas party at work... who you have a responsibility toward ... who you bring to family gatherings... in general who you have a life with... and life is more than just sex... surprised?

I don't use it to justify myself, but I don't deny it either. It is a part of my life and I do like belonging to the Gay and lesbian community. :@)

I believe some people not all of course are only gay to be different, and they are proud of it. It is kind of a fad, people will do anything for attention
