yeah, i think so!
even though elisa's dress was horrible, it was done very well.
you can tell she has some talent.
simone's dress looked like a dress made by my 2 year old daughter!!!
i honestly think she made that dress so bad on purpose because she really didn't want to be there

Yes, it was poorly made. Ricky was playing it safe but his dress was nice and well made. The judges actually kinda liked Elisa's dress, they liked the sleeves, the color and acknowledged that it too was well made. They just didn't like how the model was tripping on it and had Elisa stuck to her first instinct to cut the back she might not have been in danger of being eliminated.
I totally agree with Pogo that these designers should get a few challenges under their belt before they're eliminated.

Yes, it was a good choice. Simone's boring design probably would have been excused if her execution and workmanship had been better. At least Eliza's dress was well made. If she'd done away with the explosion of fabric in the back, it would have been pretty.

yes! her dress was so poorly made and i had NO idea what the jacket thing over it was. that hippie lady's dress was weird in the back but other than that it was well made...plus i definitely want to see more of her because she's a little crazy lol and the other guy in the bottom 3...his dress was a little simple but it was cute and well made. and i like that he designs lingerie, i really wanna see what he can do with the other challenges.

Simone was totally the right choice. Her dress was unimaginative, unoriginal, ugly, and poorly done. I didn't see much potential in her.

Yeah, it was uninspired and not well-made.
It can be unoriginal, yet well made (the baby-doll dress, the brown plaid thing.)
It can be poorly made, yet original,
But not both.
I loved the first episode, but i thought it was weak that they didnt really have a challenge- just make anything- so I thought a lot of the dresses were uninspired.

i think it's kind of crappy that they only get one chance to show themselves off, i think 2 outfits would of been ample, but yes for the first task you'd think that she would want to do something extravagant, but it was bla and poorly made, good luck to her though.

Yes, her outfit was horrible and I didn't sense any passion about her. Excellent decision.
