Corporations tell us what to buy, eat and consume. TV and celebrities tell how to act and what to wear and even what to say. How are we individuals?

I agree with you. Great question. Unfortunately it has been this way for centuries. The one that is the richest is the most successful and therefore the one everyone looks up to. Money is what runs the world. If a person does'nt have money and is not educated they are tossed to the four corners of the world like a peice of garbage. I doubt that this way of thinking will ever change. I for one could not care less about money. I don't value it as important. I don't need a lavish house, car or every other phisical and not everlasting comforts of this world. I consider myself an individual. But I am reliant on my family and friends for my happiness and emotional well being.
thank you for a great question. good luck finding your own individualism in this world:)

Well if your stupid enough to do what others tell you. then you have a problem. I could care less about celebrities.
I don't care what kind of clothes they wear.
I don't care what they eat.
I don't see them passing any money my way.
Yet they ***** and complain, they never make enough. yet people are homeless, and others are going hungry.
I don't see any of them taking any homeless person to their house, and feeding them.
So why should i care? they buy houses. that are big enough to shelter at least 20 people.
And they probably have enough food to feed at least a 100. I mean its not like they go hungry.
I mean when they throw parties. for 200 guest.
You think they can feed 50 hungry children.
I don't worship them or envy them.
As for the food i eat. i eat what i like. not what someone tells me to.

Not everyone follows the beat of the same drummer. But its our choice if we want to go along with what's popular or be non-conformists.

I myself was never on board for low rise jeans, I'm not a plumber.

People are just trying to make themselves feel special. There's very few individuals, mostly sheep. It is interesting how people can be directed by suggestion and think they all made the decision on their own.

I totally agree, and that's why I don't watch American TV that much, and I don't follow the "latest trends". I would be too embarrassed to behave or look like the 'typical American'.

That's not exactly correct, not everyone does that.
