My son is 4 1/2 months old and has big feet for a little guy (but he's built like his daddy, so I see why) Anyways, I THOUGHT he'd been in a size 2 (which is the recomended size for his age)...I WAS WRONG! He's actually a size 3 or 4. I went to Babies R Us and used those little kid foot measurers in the shoe section and found out his real size. I bought the size 2's before I knew this and now have 3 pairs of baby boys shoes I don't need! ha ha

this really doesnt have anything to do with your question, because the first answer is very helpful. But to those who are telling you to skip the shoes - you don't have to. If you are going to put shoes on your child, make sure they're soft soled. This way it doesn't hurt the development of his foot.
When I went to buy shoes for my daughter (which baby shoes are just adorable and so hard to resist) they had little charts on the back of the packaging and you could just line your baby's foot up and see what size shoe fit best.
Good luck and just remember not to go crazy! Shoes, like clothes, only last so long with babies before they're outgrown.

I would just get him cloth shoes. You can find them sized just like socks (in months). Look for a pair that says 6-12 months and give them a try.

There's no way to tell just by age. You have to use the size chart on the box if there is one (like at walmart), or just try them on. I never buy shoes without my daughter with me, my mom does that and we are never able to use them. Especially cuz all babies feet are different, my daughter's have always been higher on top, so a lot of the shoes that are flatter have never fit her. That's why I always have to try them before I buy them.

There's a foot chart online so you can measure. I'll find it...
http://www.striderite.com/shopping/search/efitcalculationmain.jsp?ruleID=55&itemID=0&itemType=EFit_Calculation&buyFor=Baby&knowSize=No
It gives full instructions on how to measure.
Also, depending on the company you're looking to order the crib shoes from, they'll usually have a size chart on their website as well. If you're buying them in person, bring your son with you and he can try them out.
Have fun!

If he isn't walking then all that really matters is that they are large enough for his feet to fit into and small enough that they don't fall off. It might make sense to get them a size or two big so that he can still wear them when he starts walking.

You can get his feet measured at pretty much any shoe store. In little ones like this, you'll always want to buy bigger than the actual size of his feet.
