I'm sorry, but with all those tests, a crapload of homework and classwork, I need a break. I'm just too exausted to do anything, Every time I'm exhausted, I never focus in school, even when I'm on Adderol XR. I go to sleep at 9:00pm sometimes earlier and I still end up tired. Every day the same thing, tests essays homework etc. I wanna ask mom if I can just take the day off. JUST ONE DAY, I need to relax. Please dont mention weekends, I have to do twice as much homework there than on school days.Sometimes, I don't go to sleep until 2-3am, because of homework, and I started at 4:pm. Every day headeaches, I have deadlines and stuff. I wanna ask mom, but she said no. I told her 12th graders can skip school.

If you needed a break should you skip school? I just need to get rid of all the tension.

Everytime my energy runs out, I have a hard time focusing and get any work done. Sometimes, I can't complete any assignments because I have other stuff to complete. I never have time for m

I never have time for myself anymore, except the summer. I just need one day off, like every other friday, or when i need rest.

Is this something I'll have to deal with when I go to college? Constant working?

And I get good grades. If I miss any work I can just make it up.

I know what you mean. every day I stay up until 2-3 AM doing homework. I get so ired and worn out from it that some times I don't know what to do with myself. so today I did skip school. I stayed home and made a fresh batch of bread. something I enjoy doing more than anything else, yet it has been 3 months since I made bread.

so I say yes, take a day off and sleep or do something you enjoy for a change.
one day can't hurt.

For one thing you need to break the homework and studying into more manageable chunks so you can take breaks throughout your work time. Find what your comfortable limit is and put that as the limit for how much you work every day, no matter how much homework you have....my math teacher last year said you should limit 45 minutes per subject per day and if it takes you more than that you seriously need to talk to the teacher(s).

I'm really sorry you have to go through this. Talk to the school counselor. I think your mom should let you stay home on the condition that you two really talk about this to solve the headaches, stress and homework overload. If the teachers don't really sympathize with you get your mom and set up a conference, because this is going way too far.

Email me if you need more help. I hope your mom is willing to let you stay home today. But you can't skip school every two weeks or whatever because it may help you feel better while you're gone but the same amount of tension comes back while you're in school.

i'd say if ur a good student and you can pick a day when you really won't miss too much , go for it. do try to talk to ur mom first though, obviously getting in trouble for skipping wouldn't be good...just really be honest and explain to her why you need a day off and maybe you can get her to write you a note saying you were sick so you can get the day excused.
i hate to have to tell you this but yes, college is pretty much constant work! BUT there are a few nice things about college classes...first of all you will get a syllabus in almost all your classes so you can plan out better how to get everything done. there are still profs that spring homework/papers/readings on you at the last minute but you'll at least know about exams and big projects a head of time. also, while some profs do take attendance, many don't so it's really up to you whether or not you go to class. and the profs who do take attendance usually give you at least a few unexcused absences. now this can be a good thing AND a bad thing...it's nice to have some flexibility and to be able to decided you want a day off. but you really have to become self disciplined about going to class...i never skipped a day in high school and i have a hard time getting up to go to class now in college just because i dont actually HAVE to go. college is stressful but you'll develop new ways to get everything done and it's absolutely worth the stress.
good luck!! i hope you can find a way to relax a little!

I've been reading the questions you posted for the past 2 days and i understand that this problem is serious.the problem is that you're are focusing too much on school work.I'm bout your age and i am an isc student.you know what i do i take a half an hour break after every 2 hours of constant studying.during My break i chill out with music or watch TV or surf the net or play my violin.trust me its very relaxing.if you keep studying constantly your brain gets monotonous and worn out.and yes i think you should take a day off but not every week say how bout one day a month[I've not taken a single day off this whole year and my school started in may].taking a break really helps relax your mind and cool your brain.i get great grades and i stand in the top five but i'm not a book worm.i always have time to have fun.i love scool and cant bear to not go .

Sounds like you need a mental health day. Normally for my mental health days I lounge around @ home and go places I want to go like the bookstore or out for a nice dinner. You can use a weekend day for this if you want or a school day. Ask your mom first. Tell her you're stressing and it is hard for you to deal with everything. If she says no then as much as I love parents and will always tell u 2 obey them unless they tell you something wrong in this instance I say do it anyways. In college it is something similar, only it won't be everyday. Your profs won't give you homework everyday but you will have to keep up with the reading and studying. Occasionally they'll give you an assignment (usually a paper or test sometimes a quiz or something else depending on the class) and sometimes you'll have back to back deadlines. It's a different demand than high school, and you have more opportunities for fun as well. Good Luck!

I don't see anything wrong with taking one day off as a stress reliever. It sounds like your school is really piling in the workload for the seniors. Senior year is very stressful and if you feel like taking a day of rest would be helpful, go for it. Keep in mind, though, that missing a day means that you will have to make up the work, which might but you even farther behind the next day. I think you will find college much easier. I'd also take a look at your eating habits. Are you getting a good balance of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains? Often diet can lead to fatigue, especially if your iron count is low. So make sure you're getting some red meats. Good luck and I hope school gets easier!

ur gonna have to deal with this sort of stuff all the time...college, work...everything...try to stay focused and on task and try taking an hour nap as soon as school gets out, then do ur homework...and try going to bed even earlier than 9 if at all possible...therere will be a break soon...Thanksgiving is only 1 week away...stay in there and stay strong! Good Luck and get some rest!

Why is your schedule so full, if you are in the 12th grade? Seniors can make their own schedule, and get our of school early when their classes are done. I am a mom, and I have an 11th grader. I worry that he is not getting enough rest from all the school work that he has. I agree with you that you may need a break, but I don't suggest that you take it upon yourself to get that break. Isn't Thanksgiving break and Christmas break coming soon. Hold out til then, you don't want to mess up your attendance record. Also talk to your teachers, and see how they can get your schedule modified. They might be able to help. Good luck.

I personally think your Mom should allow you the day off you are requesting. There are many things in your story that contradict each other but I'm sure teens as adults just need a day off. Parents need to understand the pressure teens are under these days and cut kids a break every once in a while.

I'm the mother of a teen so I know what I'm talking about these other parents are absurd in my opinion.

I feel like that sometimes to. The best thing to do is to take a day off and relax once in a while. For the homework part, to have more time you can work on it in the morning.
