Although Walmart encourages the use of "Happy Holidays" they haven't forbidden their employees from saying "Merry Christmas". The reason this thing has turned into a huge controversy is because the media tried to insinuate that Walmart wouldn't allow employees to use the greeting they choose. Since I'm Jewish, I always say Happy Holidays, and often am given a cold, defensive response in return. Perhaps people should realize that when someone says Happy Holidays, maybe they are trying to be inclusive, rather than "politically correct", and accept the good wishes.

Personally, I will still say Merry Christmas, it's been that way all my life n I'm not going to change. True, this time of year there are holidays...Thanksgiving & New Years (Holidays) The other is Christmas...celebrating the birth of Christ. Pretty good timing for these PC people to wake up the "silent majority", The elections coming up & Christmas right around the corner. I think they woke up the wrong Group of people & it's gonna cost them! Ho-Ho-Ho-!!!

Maybe that will happen when people start putting the "Christ" back in Christmas and stopping saying "x mas"..that drives me nuts! Jesus is the reason for the season! If people can say Happy Hanukkah and Kwanzaa...then Merry Christmas should be just as easy to say too! I agree with you 100% on this one.

It's a sign of the times,Scooter. The Anti-Christ spirit is rampant in this world--get used to it! The world is pushing all this P.C. stuff to distract from the real meaning of the holiday.Jesus has been left behind and Santa and all the non Christian commercial ikons have replaced our Saviour's birth commemoration--I wonder if people in this world know that Jesus was born in the springtime on not on December 25th(the old pagan holiday start of the winter season celebration?)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a store making the policy that their greeting will be 'Happy Holidays'. Just because YOU celebrate Christmas, and the majority of the people in America celebrate Christmas, we all celebrate the Holiday season. There are numerous holidays between the middle of November and the end of December. If you personally want to say Merry Christmas, then do so. But WalMart and other stores have decided that they will embrace ALL holidays and use the greeting 'Happy Holidays'. They are also forced to cover themselves because some people are quick to sue them over the slightest little thing. Stop blaming WalMart for enacting a policy that doesn't really impact you AT ALL. I mean really, of all the things that people can get upset about. It is a polite, friendly greeting. Maybe the greeters should just stand there and say nothing. Would that be better?

Hopefully it will stop when enough people start raising their voices. I too am sooo sick of it. I just read now that Santa's have to say Ha Ha Ha instead of Ho Ho Ho. Apparently it offends the female population. It's getting to the point where Christmas isn't fun anymore. Ho Ho Ho to you and have a Merry Christmas too!!!

Oh, I SO agree with you! It's gone waaaaaaaaay to far! It is CHIRSTMAS - the celebration of Christ's birth. People say "happy holidays" to not offend anyone - well you know what? "happy holidays" offends me as a Christian! It's ridiculous! On top of that, they are now making Santa say "hahaha" instead of "hohoho" because some people find the latter offensive - you know what - people need to grow the heck up. This is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of hand!!!!!!

I agree. We have the ACLU to thank for alot of this BS. I personally plan on sending the ACLU about 20 CHRISTMAS cards this year, not Happy Holidays cards.

happy holidays is politically correct but that is was is needed. You can say Merry Christmas to your friend and family but think on a business level, do you want to offend Jewish people or forget people who celebrate Kwanzaa.
