Huh, thats cool. I wonder if the duck had a microphone and was stationed at the Grand Canyon, would this still be the case?

Yes, I read about it in previous answers. It isn't a very poetic sound, so we aren't missing anything. The wild duck that pass here in autumn make the most ungainly racket - I prefer songbirds.
