Get your dentist to call your doctor and see what can be worked out. If there is a chronic infection with your tooth problem, it could also be harmful to you (and possibly the baby), because mouth bacteria don't stay in your mouth.

Plus I know how bad it can hurt.

I never had much in the way of pain meds after an extraction. The novocaine takes care of the extraction pain, and when it wears off, it STILL hurts a lot less than what you were suffering with before. The source of the big pain is now gone. You can put an ice pack on your face if you want.

I had a tooth pulled while I was pregnant. The Dentist was well aware of my pregnancy. I called by OB, they said it was fine as long as I only received a local, not a general anesthesia. I didn't require any pain meds other than Tylenol, afterwards. Get that tooth out!

Best of luck!!!

Awe, I know exactly how you feel. I had to have a tooth out at 8 months also. It's perfectly fine. You're dentist would have to call your ob and make sure first. It's just a safety thing. I hope you feel better! Congrats on the baby!!!!!! Oh, and you can even get the shot to numb you're mouth too!!!

having the tooth pulled is safe, however afterwards you would need pain meds and those are not safe, so unless you can go through the pain with out pain meds it's best to wait until after you have given birth

Hey,

Not to scare you or anything but my sister in law went to take a tooth out at about 8 - 8 ana half months pregnant and she fainted and was rushed to hospital and had a c-section with her fourth baby after having 3 babies naturally...........

I dont think your allowed an anasthetic when your pregnant.. the thing they put to numb your gums.

Ask your dr to be sure, my sister in law may have just gone to a terrible dentist!!!!!!!

Good luck and take care!!!

novcane is local, and wont cross over the placenta.. I was on morphone for 7 days with a kidney infection with my first daughter, and they said as long as your body needs the pain med it will go to you first.. the only thing morphone did was make her sleepy in there... other than that it was fine. The pain and stress of a bad tooth is bad for the baby.... if you ask your OB and your dentist and ask to have novacan as opposed to gas I am sure they will agree it is fine.

Iam so sorry to say this but no doctor will touch you if you pregnant. They wont give you any thing they will just tell you take Tylenol for pain and wait until you have the baby to pull it. Now if its swollen call your obgyn and she can give you some antibiotics.
