He'll get next year to turn it around...as in a bowl game win...If he doesn't, he's gone...So, if they slump again and go 0-6, he'll be fired before the season is over...They lost to Navy...That should have NEVER happenned...Alumni have already started grumbling, but they signed him to a big contract...so they are forced to give him time...

Substantial improvement needs to be made next year in all phases of the game. If they do not have a winning season next year then the Godfathers may send Charlie packing. Also, look at the recruits that have committed this year to Notre Dame. There are several 4 & 5 star players. However, I still don't see any speed players. That is what Notre Dame needs. They are a slow team and whoever is ranking these recruits may want too look again.

Charlie Weis is going to be the Notre Dame coach for the next few years because next year will probably not be anywhere near as bad as this year. Having said that they will never win a National Championship under him. He is a mediocre coach. His prior success is all due to having Tom Brady as his QB in New England.

I kind of hope they do drop him. Notre Dame, hopefully learned that once you give a guy a long term contract at least giving him one so early as they did is a bad thing. He has declined ever since.

No Pass. Charlie is a great coach. At some point the Irish will win the national title under coach Weis. Go Irish!

as a Michigan fan, I hope he stays forever!!

going from a pro's to college is not a easy job, kids still need motivation....I think weis is as dull as a fence painting party.

Notre Dame go through coaches too fast, stop giving the long term contract and make them earn there pay then maybe we wouldn't have this issue, produce or get fired easy as that.....ND is ND it is a premier coaching position people want to play and coach for ND.

I will gladly give Lloyd Carr away

Firing the head coach everytime ND has a disappointing season is not going to be good for ND in the long run, and I think ND wants some stablity at head coach. Seriously, it will be hard for ND to have another season as bad as this one, ever. So the team will improve. I think he'll get a pass for at least 2 years.

Unfortunately....he's got awhile. That contract Notre Dame gave him was so large.....the university can't afford to fire him

Who'd be desperate enough to make a pass at Charlie Weis?

They will have to improve quite a bit next year to keep his job. It's not all his fault. Every team in the country wanted Clausen. It wasn't just Weis that mis-judged his talent.
