The government now says we have a choice, but do we?? How are we to choose between the best cable provider if most cities only have one provider in each area. Cable companies have an unspoken agreement not to infringe on each other so that they can control the excessive costs that we are charged. So other than satellite do we really have a choice. What about HD?? The government says that networks have to broadcast in HD but why are we charged such high prices by cable companies for something that was designed to be a free service??

I had a decent cable company, but they were bought out by Cox (who I hate), so we dumped the cable and went to satelite. There was no other option, but I am very happy with my Dish Network.

As to the HD part of your question, very good question.

As for a cable company, living in a big city like dallas, we only have time warner (use to be comcast.net). But we also have verizion Fios tv with is just fiber, and dish network. So we have a decent choice of companies to choose from. but some smaller areas of the city still don't have verizion fios so time warner cable and satellite is the only option in the outskirts of the city.
