My doctor told me to stop drinking caffeine and drinks with alot of sugar. So I did. It has only been two days, but I was wondering how long it would take to get out of my system, simply because I still feel tired all day.. I feel like I am gonna fall asleep. I was feeling dizzy to when i stood up or cleaned for longer than 10 minutes. That part has went away, but I still feel extremely tired. I have a 1 year old at home with me, I can't be falling asleep. Can anyone help?

KERI,

THE PROBLEM WITH DRINKING CAFFEINE IS THAT IT DOES BUILD UP OVER TIME, UNTIL YOU NEED MORE AND MORE TO GET THE SAME EFFECTS.
I USED TO DRINK COFFEE, BUT I CHANGED TO DECAF BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY I FELT IF I DIDN'T HAVE A CONTINUOUS LEVEL IN MY BODY.
IT TAKES ABOUT 1 WEEK TO GET IT OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM, ASSUMING YOU DON'T DRINK ANY MORE OF IT.
DECAF COFFEE IS ABOUT 95% CAFFEINE FREE. IF YOU CAN ADAPT TO THE CHANGE IN NOT GETTING THE ENERGY RUSH AND JUST DRINK IT FOR THE TASTE THEN THIS IS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE.

fyi the chemical structure of caffeine is similar to that of cocaine which explains the similarities of side-effects

Caffeine has a half life in the body of 3 hours. After you drink a cup of coffee and it has say 100mg of caffeine in 3 hours your body has broken down half of it, after 6 hours you would have 25mg etc.

After a person who drinks a lot of caffeine stops it will take the body a while to restore its natural energy level since it has not had to do it on its own in a while. It might take a week or two for you to feel the same as you did when consuming caffeine.
