You must be reading or hearing very diff info than I am. I'm reading scientific journals and reports from science research groups saying it is quite real, happening, now, will get worse and be very far reaching in it's consequences ....where are you getting your info?

What's really scary is that conservatives wail and rant about fear-mongering by scientists, and then conduct much worse themselves -- i.e. the Iraq War. But scientists are being conservative in their estimates of the rate of global warming, and then they are consistently being surprised by seeing changes occur that they didn't anticipate for years from now.

Common sense... and there are hundreds of scientist that say the opposite. We will get by. This is evident by a very inactive hurricane season this year.

In the 70's there were numerous scientific journals that said the earth is in a period of global cooling. So who do you believe?

The problem is that the "professionals" are predicting the earths temperature over the next 100 years, but can't even accurately predict the path of a hurricane or next week's weather.

The fact is that there was once an ice age, and there was also palm trees in the arctic circle, long before Al Gore's private jet or Leonardo's SUV. The sun goes through cycles. This is evident on Mars where the ice caps there are melting as well.

Man does not, and can not create climate change. Are we so arrogant? If we are so concerned, then we should concentrate more on space exploration and find new ways of living there. Live long and prosper.

They HAVE no information supporting their denials.

This reminds of the early 80s when HIV was JUST becoming an epidemic in the world. Ronald Reagan denied there WAS such a thing as "Gay Cancer" (what AIDS was known as at first), refused to provide funding for R&D to combat it and his failures cost the lives of thousands of Americans, not to mention the rest of the world, it was entirely possible AIDS would be just another footnote in World History had Reagan just DONE HIS JOB, all because of his lack of vision and forethought.

25 years later, we are in the same boat. Scientists and researchers say Global Warming is real and there are ways to combat it, while non-educated Republicans continue to deny its existence, they deny satellite pictures, they deny the fact the Island Nation of Tuvalu is no longer above sea level and had to be abandoned, its 15,000 citizens now adrift with no country to call their own, buthwne it affects Them personally THEN they will act, but by then of course, it will be too late.

Georgia and Tennessee running out of drinkable water, but there's no crisis.
Here it is November 15, 2007, and the temps should be about 50 for a low and 75 for a high in Maricopa County, AZ. It is 66 degrees right now, and the sun isn't even up yet. We have broken daytime heat records for the last 2 months (records which haven't been broken since 1938) and we are in the 13th year of a six year drought cycle. The North Polar Icecaps have lost over 45% of their mass in the last 15 years, yet Cons still deny any problems. When WILL you admit to problems with the hole in the ozone layer and the increased incidence of skin cancers popping up all OVER the world?

No question about climate change but the rate that they say it is happening and the reason it is happening are what is in question.

By the way you can also read real scientific journals that give opposing veiws to what you are reading, but that wouldn't scare anyone would it.

Also have you ever noticed people in the field of science want you to beleive their information is rock solid and you should not question it until they come up with a new therory that contradicts what they said before.

Addition: There case might be taken a bit more serious if people like Al (I have a huge carbon footprint) Gore didn't put out films trying to scare people with obvious misrepresentations. If it is the truth you don't have to make stuff up.

Bush made this a political Issue when he had his man re-write information which should have been delivered without it being censored .
Its for our own good don't you know .
We can not handle the truth .
People will riot in the streets and chaos will reign if people are told the truth .
Its impossible to maintain order if the people panic .
Telling them that Global warming is going to lead to the deaths of possibly 1 billion people is going to create panic .
You have to have the resources to adapt and change and many do not around this world .
The only danger we are in is that While India is starving to death and millions are dieing that they elect a leader that demands America helps out and if not they will use nuclear weapons on America .

See no matter what we have the land and resources to take care of ourselves .

We have air conditioning and while its aging and in need of much work a water delivery system that can be adapted to provide us all we need .

SO in the end it is going to be those nations which begin to take action first , that will come out of this with a nice tan ,plenty to eat , and a Flat screen to watch the world destroy itself .

And where are you getting your information. It is real, but it's a non issue. Read about the Little Ice Age. Before that happened the climate was warmer than average too.

And just so you know WHY I believe there IS global warming. It's proven the average temperature long term (thousand years or so) has been rising since the peak of the last Ice Age. It IS real. it's happening now. But who defines what is worse? Mother Nature is handling the issue.

Well, see, that's part of the problem. Don't you think it's a conflict of interest to take the scientist's word for it when their jobs depend on them getting funding for their studies? And so if they were to report it's not a serious threat, they would probably lose funding, and possibly their jobs.

Their are a variety of scientific publications that attempt to look at other causes of climate change. Not all of them agree it's all man's fault and the planet is doomed, in fact even the publications you are referring to don't. I will give them credit, they are careful and accurate with their language, they never specifically state that the planet is dying or that man's activities will cause that to happen.

The simplest observation I could give you, as to why you should be skeptical of climate scientists, is this: if they can't predict the weather for your region with 90% accuracy for the next week, what makes you think they can predict global weather patterns for the next several years?

I wonder the same thing. All credible sources agree. But when listening to right wing news, you would think its this big contraversy.

One degree! Brought to you by the same people that can't predict the weather next month but insist on telling us that they can actually and accurately forecast the whole of the climate.

You do know of course that the quickest way to deal with the situation is to increase the amount of particulate pollution in the atmosphere to increase global dimming. While we only contribute less than 1/3 of total CO2 it is possible that we can reduce that. It is also very likely that CO2 levels have nothing to do with temperature. In the wide scheme of the world a rise in temperature means only change not devastation. I suggest you learn the serenity prayer.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

They don't say it is not real. They contend, correctly I might add, that climate change is a natural and regular event on the Planet and it is not man made. The media has been whipped into a frenzy, by agenda driven politicians on the issue and have caused the uproar.
