another type of internet connection like comcast?

The wireless card is my verizon broadband connection. It plugs directly into my laptop. I am just wondering if I still need to invest in another connection like Comcast Online the plugs directly into the router

u certainly can set up a wireless network if u ve a wireless card and a router(linksys is a good choice)...
u just ve to configure the wireless set up using ur router( for info logon to linksys site and support.microsoft.com for wireless configuration in windows)

and in case u need to work on internet then u ll ve to ve a broadband internet connection(dsl or cable) which comes with a modem.
modem wud be connected to the router and then u can access internet using ur wireless network..

Hi, assuming that your linksys is a 'wireless' router, then yes, you are all set for a wireless network.

To access the Internet, you have to subscribe to an Internet service - such as comcast and connect it to your wireless router.

Update: I just read your post about your Verizon broadband card. I thought that your wireless card is a wireless lan pcmcia card. What i think you have is Verizon's wireless CDMA card. That's actually a wireless broadband service on it's own. Hence, you don't need any other internet connection nor a wireless router. Call your verizon tech support for assistance :)

Technically that is all you need to set up a “network” per say. But is you are wanting to get on the Internet then you will need to get some sort of Internet connection, I.e. cable, DSL, dial up.

Just say your second post. If you are using Verizon then you don’t need anything else.
