This year Santas are advised to use the term 'ha ha ha' instead of the traditional 'ho ho ho' because it's offensive to women. Are you freaking serious? What is this world coming to when we have to walk on egg shells in order not to offend people? I can understand if this had any, any, ANY bit of grounds to stand on, but it doesn't! I'm sick and tired to the political correctness that is trying to be pushed on us then the government turns around and contradicts theirself.
My question is:
Wouldn't it be A LOT easier to change the slang term, rather than changing tradition? Does this also mean that The Green Giant's saying is out too? What about the gardening tool?
Is this as ridiculous to any of you as it is to me or am I way off here?

Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I'm not the only one who thinks this is insane! We have a war going on for Christ's sake! Let's put concern on things that matter to us like BRINGING OUR TROOPS HOME, rather than thinking ways to bring down a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. Ho ho ho is for the kids, not for some grown up with too much time of their hands!!

It is all getting out of hand! Obviously there are some people in office that have too much time on their hands! I guess they've forgotten that there is a war going on???

OMG!! As a woman.. I am here to say that that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. "Ho Ho Ho" Is what Santa says. Are they going to go back and revise all the night before Christmas books while they are at it?

How is that offensive at all? "Ho" wasn't even an offensive word when the development of our common image of St. Nicholas came about. "Ho" is merely a modern word that some think is offensive to women. It's JUST a word.

Dang.. they change what Santa says in order to keep from offending women.. but protesters can stand outside fallen soldiers funerals holding "Thank God of Dead Soldiers" signs. And that's not offensive? Give me a break.

I think this country needs to start putting their focus on things that really matter, and not little things that they THINK are offending people.

I saw this story this morning, and couldn't believe what I was reading. How ridiculous. THAT'S WHAT SANTA SAYS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I've had it with political correctness. Just because one person is "offended" by something, the rest of the world is expected to follow their lead. I don't see it as being the government, but rather by individuals starting the ball rolling, and creating a mess for that rest of us. No, you're not way off - it's just totally crazy! What little kid is going to associate "ho, ho, ho" with a hooker? Can't you see it now? Every book about Santa being recalled and burned, jail time for those caught with such "illegal" books. Ridiculous? Probably, but no more so than expecting them to say "ha, ha, ha" the way they want the Santas to.

Gimme a break. Political correctness be damned!

F them. I never celebrated Christmas because I'm generally cheap and a scrooge but I'm going all out this year regardless of who gets offended or not. Tradition is tradition and if they choose to make away with half of what makes the holiday a holiday then do away with the whole season as a whole...meaning no more days off, no pauid holiday, no nothing. We dont rain on anyone elses parade especially the Jews which is why we cant say Merry Chritsmas anymore. F them too...we dont rain on their hanukka and their funky parties.
This ho ho ho thing does not offend me and any woman who says it does deserves to be slapped, beaten and demorilized by her man ..that'll teach her to keep her trapt shut.

OK, lets get the name calling out of the way.

For all the Conservatives its the liberals fault
For all the Liberals its the Conservatives fault
And for all those people that have brains and refuse to follow a traditional party line, this is just stupid. Whats next, they are going to rename White Christmas because the title is racially bias?

It's not offensive to me.

I remember Green Giant said Ho Ho Ho too.
What's the deal?

Every year something new comes around and messes things up.

I thinks it's stupid and someone just wanted attention and claimed that it was offensive to them! My thing is if you know you arent a "ho" then why would Santa be calling you that anyway. Plus them term wasnt to anyone in general it's just a saying so I think its dumb! Santa just isnt the same saying "ha ha ha"!

this is worse than how the scientists are saying pluto is no longer a plannet. He's santa clause for crying out loud, pluto is still pluto, santa is still santa, and a laugh of ho ho ho, is still just a laugh of ho ho ho.
