Numbers 3 and 4 aren't even questions!
If you can't understand the questions you are given, there is no way you can understand the answers.
Instead of talking to us, you should be talking to your teacher.
Unless of course your goal is to NOT learn algebra, in which case continuing to "cheat" on yahoo answers is a surefire path to success.

With all due respect, in each of numbers 3 and 4 all you have done is to write down a complex number. I suspect the assignment had some instructions as to what to do with those numbers. If you think that what you wrote really are questions as they are written, then please answer this question for me:

1. sqrt - 900 = 30i
-since you can't take the square root of a negative no. therefore it has to be imaginary ( i ).
2. 1/2(6x - 8) = 1/4(16x -12)
3x - 4 = 4x - 3
3x - 4x = -3 + 4
-x = 1
x = -1
3. - 2 + 5i
- I don't know
4. 5 + 3i
- I don't know
5. /5x - 8/ = 2
5x - 8 = 2
5x = 2 + 8
5x = 10
x= 10/5
x = 2

1. it is an invalid function you can not have a square root for a negative number but the sqrt of 900 is 30
2. x= -1
3. i= -3
4. i= -8
