Universal health care is a joke. I dated someone from Canada and she hated the system. The wait times were horrible. The problem is not the system. The rising costs come because of 2 reasons. First, people in this country are becoming more unhealthy. Obesity is growing at an alarming rate. Insurance companies are in it to make a buck, and I have no problem with that. The problem is that much of our country is fat and lazy, eating fast food and getting no exercise. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that makes it more expensive because more people are needing more serious care. Next we can look at lawsuits. That whole mess needs revamped too. A mistake made by a medical professional should not be viewed as hitting the lottery. Universal health care will not fix the problem. All it will do is make us all pay more in tax, stifle competition, raise costs, and create long lines. Can you name 1 govt. program that has not cost more and has been run in an efficient manner? Universal health care is not the answer. If enacted, we will no longer be the leader in health care, we will stagnate and no longer be the destination of people looking for top notch care. And as of today she still wants it, but giver her stance on other issues, that is subject to change with the political winds.

There is a lot of confusion here. Somebody says the current US health system is the best in the world? Is that a joke?
It is ranked number 37 in the World, behind multiple countries that have Universal Health Plans.
And when cost is considered, the US Medical System is considered THE WORST in the World, that is the results obtained divided by the money expended.
That foreigners come here for medical treatment? Sure they do, particularly people from third world countries. But the main reason is that we are technologically more developed and the same treatment is probably not even available yet in their countries.
And the opposite is also true. More and more people are going to other countries for retirement and to get medical or dental treatment or to buy medications at lower costs, lower even than what they can get in the US WITH medical plans.

Oh please. Blanket statements like "keeps the rich even more rich and the poor dying" are just liberal rhetoric touted by people like Hilary Clinton to push the public towards socialism. Why don't you give us some facts about the rich getting richer and the poor dying....

Yes, she does propose a plan that would give every American an opportunity to get affordable health care. The plan is a bit different from the one she tried to get thrugh as First Lady, but it is essentially the same idea.

What is it like to just give up and hand over your life to the Government? Is it weird to have no drive, motivation or any sense of individuality?
