check the switch setting, is it on heat ? try reseting the breaker to the furnace, look at the gas knob setting is it to on? try setting at a higher temp, on thermostate.

there is a simple way to check to see if it is the thermostat. Take the cover off the thermostat and take the thermostat off the wall. there should be a couple of screws holding it to the wall. there will be two wires coming into the themostat. take those wires off the thermostat and hold them together. if you furnace comes on then you know the thermostat is bad. they are simple to replace. if that does not cause the furnace to come on then there is a problem in the furnace itself.

since the pilot light is lit you know it's not the gas coming in or the thermocoupler. Don't worry about touching those wires because thermostats don't run off of regular house hold current. it's like the current that runs the phone lines. they won't shock you if you tough them.

Could be a lot of reasons for this. First, make sure the front covers are on correctly. Many furnaces have a switch that keeps the furnace from working if the cover has come loose.

After that, there are many sensors in the furnace that determine if it is working properly. Any one of those sensors could have failed, or detected and unsafe condition. A Heating and cooling company can figure out what's wrong in that case.

If this is a high efficiency gas furnace 90% + there is a cheap fan that is in the exhaust chimeny. If this fan stops working the furnace will shut down on safety. This is a job you will want a repair man to do.
