I've been ttc since September 07, and have been using an ovulation calendar. Last month, we knew this would be it, we ttc everyday on my fertile days! But...no prego. I'm healthy, take prenatals since June 07, excercise regularly....but my cycle is only 26 days. My cycle has fluctuated btwn 26-27, this has always been the norm for me....is it too short to conceive? All ideas are welcomed!

You all are great! Thx for the support and info! I just assumed being healthy means conceiving immediately. Then researching about high FSH, premature ovarian failure, etc, etc, gets your mind whirling! You all are absolutely right, I need to chill and enjoy. I will be researching the book Take Charge of Your Fertility, apparently this is where it's at! Thx so much to all for getting me straight!

Read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". You may find that ovulation calculator you have been using is incorrect (It was wrong for me). Also it is not your cycle length that is important it is how long your luteal phase is. These are the number of from ovulation until the start of your period. 12 or more is ideal and anything 10 or less can be a problem with conceiving. My luteal phase was always around 9-11 so that may be a problem for us and I have a 28 day cycle. You have to give the egg time to firmly implant and if you period comes too quickly after ovulation it makes it harder to conceive. So try some of the charting and temping methods in the book I recommended so you can more accurately pinpoint your ovulation and then count your days past ovulation to see if you have a short luteal phase. You could also use ovulation prediction kits starting about day 8 and take them everyday until you get a positive. You should ovulate 12-72 hours after your first positive test and that will help you determine close to when you are ovulating. Oh there is a great website if you decide to start charting it is http://www.fertilityfriend.com and then a site to learn about the opk's is http://www.peeonastick.com. Best wishes and stay positive you are only just beginning in the ttc journey.

I highly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It helps you learn to chart your basal body temperature, which will give you a better idea of when you are ovulating. Keep in mind that just becasue you have a 26 day cycle doesnt mean you will ovulate in the middle (or cycle day 13)... Ovulation calendars are not specific to you so they can be inaccurate. You may have a short cycle becasue you only have an 11 day luteal phase (thats the phase after you ovulate) if so you would ovulate arond cycle day 15.... see how it can change?

Charting is a good way to know for sure when you ovulate and increase your chances of pg

good luck

Women who have shorter cycles tend to ovulate MORE than women with longer ones so it would appear that you would be able to conceive theoretically more often than a woman with a longer cycle.

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ has a free course online mailed to you daily. It has helped many women conceive. I highly recommend it. By charting you can find out when you ovulate w/in a day of it happening and you can see if you have any issues that would stop you from carrying a baby and also would tell you if you have been getting pregnant but miscarrying.

Also, the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler explains charting among other things in great detail, and is a must for any woman trying to get pregnant or trying to avoid it.

Lots of baby dust!

26 Day Cycle

You can certainly conceive with a 26 day cycle. I was in the same boat as you having only a 26 day cycle and I only 10 days between ovulation and menstruation. My husband and I started trying in March and I was pregnant by July, so it took about four months. Keep trying it will happen!

Nope, your cycle length is not too short. Just as long as your luteal phase (the time between ovulation and menstruation) isn't too short, you should be fine. If your luteal phase is less than 10 days, then you may want to talk to your doctor. Otherwise, a 26 day cycle shouldn't affect your fertility. Good luck!

There is no too short. You cycle, and thats the key.

You're only barely 2 months into TTC and thats a grand total of 48 hours you've had a viable egg available for sperm. HOURS. Even if sperm and eggs are in the same place at the same time theres only an 80 something % chance it'll result in a pregnancy.

Chill the hell out, freaking out and trying to make it happen will KEEP it from happening.

Have sex, live life, and dont think about it. It'll happen before you know it.
